The Michael Irvin Award for Achievement in Fashion

One of the most coveted awards in all of football, the Michael Irvin Award is named after the most prolific fashion statement in the history of the game. Irvin is often seen off the field or during his work as a television analyst in some of the most colorful and innovative styles in today’s market. For instance, Irvin was the first to sport the suit garnished with a sport coat often reaching below the knees in length, casting the appearance of a fancy robe or evening gown with buttons. Irvin also had a soft spot for the retro look, brandishing large, overstated collars not seen in public since Al Pacino reached fame as a Cuban drug lord in the movie “Scarface” (an analogy that works on so many levels, don’t you think?).

The process of selecting the winner of this award in 2005 is not easy. The nominees are usually bountiful at the NFL Draft, yet most of the players present at this year’s draft dawned conservative looks. No one wore a sports coat reaching the floor and the Notorious B.I.G. fedoras were left for the members of the support groups as players avoided such individual statements. Therefore, we will have to make a reach and award this title to WR Braylon Edwards. Edwards’ suit was not outlandish by any means. However, a quick review of the pictures from NFL Draft day will reveal each player seemed to dress in preparation of the probable events, often wearing suits matching the hats of their respective teams. In all honesty, it was almost eerie. Edwards gets the award as the lone individual to buck that trend, sporting a bright pink shirt with matching tie when he hit the stage to shake hands with Commissioner Paul Tagliabue. Pink goes well with everything, right Michael? :D

Ahh I wasn't comparing him to Irvin, I just like that he was the best dressed there ya know? Anyways, Savage seemed to have seen something in Braylon that he really liked to not trade down in the draft, I'm excited to see him play.

Braylon will fill more seats than David Pollack would...the Browns might need that.

I've gotta tell you man, no matter who is playing, the Browns fans will always fill the seats. Unless of course Kordell Stewart is starting at QB.

They are doomed for a decade of futility!

I don't particularly much care for the Browns (Go figure), but must say that I feel coach Crennel has them going in the right direction. I don't see them struggling along 10 years from now. I believe the AFCN will be dominant in years to come, to include all 4 teams. **Homer Alert** The Bengals will be on top !!!

Oh yeah, who cares about Irvin ?? What a dumba$$ !! I wouldn't want his name associated in ANY way to anything happening with our team...

WHODEY !!!

Oh come on, it's just an award for being the best dressed, at least the man has style!

Style?

You mean, gaudy, Deion-esque sense of style?

(Imitating Redman from 'How High')

"You-same-color-dress-shirt-to-match-your-suit-uncreative-having-ass-muthaf**kah!"

GET 'EM!!

"You-Larry-Johnson-Stephon-Marbury-Three-parts-on-the-side-of-your-head-having-ass-muthaf**kah!"

GET 'EM!!

"You-Steve-Harvey-three-quarter-length-suit-wearing-ass-muthaf**kah!"

GET 'EM!!

Wrong... Didn't know he played for Michigan actually. Just think it's funny how some cokehead asswipe manages to be such a dumbass on national television and people love him for it. As far as his attire is concerned, please, he is an embarrassment to fashion. I just don't like the man on any level. (Just in case I was being subtle)...

WHODEY !!!

If he's so laid out in some fine threads, making a Budwieser beer bottleless sartorial statement seldom seen in Cleveland, where's the picture?

I thought you were talking about Braylon, my bad.

No problem... In regards to Braylon, as much as I can't stand Michigan, the kid can flat out play and as soon as you guys get someone to throw to him, he'll produce at the level most Browns fans expect. Sorry, I think Dilfer is trash and won't help you guys.

Oh yeah, Irvin=DUMBASS !!! (Have I mentioned I don't like him??)

WHODEY !!!

Braylon will be a player to fear in the years to come, but you really need a QB to throw to him before he will explode.

Why would you not want to compare any one to Irvin in any way?

-5 pro bowls

-Shattered almost every recieving record the Cowboys had

-10th in all time catches list

-3 Super Bowl Rings

-Future Hall of Famer.

Even though Braylon's playing style is nothing like Michael Irvins, if i was a Brown's fan I'd love for Braylon to achieve half of what Michael Irvin did as a player.

Even the arrests?

I don't think Dilfer will do as bad this year as everyone thinks. I agree he's not great, but I think his stats will be bad because of the "talent" around him. He's got no reliable receiver and no threat in the running game. It's all gonna be on him, and he can't be "the man".
