Bengalbob
You gotta love our three road games against 3 of the bottom 5 teams (KC, Tennessee, and the Clowns)!
JPW
Yea, that was another good read ...3. Pittsburgh Steelers – Pittsburgh is a Super Bowl contender again, but those offseason losses in free agency are going to hurt when depth becomes an issue. Having a healthy Duce Staley would be a huge boost, but Antwaan Randle El must pick up the slack left by the departure of wideout Plaxico Burress. 5. Cincinnati Bengals – If Carson Palmer picks up where he left off last season, and the Bengals get production out of their third receiver, Cincinnati's offense could be scary good. And I predict linebacker Odell Thurman will make a strong push for Defensive Rookie of the Year. 7. Baltimore Ravens – The offense may have gotten its act together just in time to see the defense slide backward another notch. Mike Nolan's departure is going to be a bigger deal than expected, and beyond the superb secondary, the rest of the Baltimore D is going to be merely above average. 16. Cleveland Browns – Trent Dilfer will be among the worst starting quarterbacks in the NFL, and that's going to be one reason why this will be a very bad team. But don't blame new general manager Phil Savage and new head coach Romeo Crennel. They are going to need two years to stock the roster with players that fit their systems.Seems like pretty good reasoning to me ...... Kazkal
You gotta love our three road games against 3 of the bottom 5 teams (KC, Tennessee, and the Clowns)! Eh KC isen't going to be that easy they do have a awesome offense just like us and there defense will have all season to improve till they face us
BengalBax
I don't know. I don't think Dilfer will be that bad. Won't be that GREAT but won't be that BAD. I see him at about 18td and 15int if he starts all season. I think the problem with the brownies will be their players everywhere else. It all depends on how Edwards stacks up, and that defense, to me, is very suspect.

Who?
Trent Dilfer as we all know is just a one or two year band-aid for the Brownies, I too am just questioning the defense the most. Crennel worked wonders with those no name corners that had to fill in while in New England, so who knows. The Browns and the Titans will probably be the two worst teams in the AFC, but at least we are heading in the right direction.
Spain
Dilfer is going to get spanked, It wont be his fault but with a d like that playing from behind and him new to the system we are going to remeber what we used to look like. Cleveland has some rough years ahead of them!
redsfan2
Year before last the Steelers were 6 and 10, and Cowher was calling the office every day to see if he should bother to come to work. Last year they're 15 and 1 and he's anointed the SteelTown genius again. Coach Lewis' first year here, everyone was saying that he could probably get us a 2 game improvement with the schedule we had. When we went 8 n 8 , they were all quick to say that since we had an even tougher schedule, we could have a losing season at 7 n 9 and still really be an improved team. Problem with all this stuff is they're going by what you did last year .... and hindsight is always 20 / 20.Only reason a lot of the talking heads aren't picking the Pats again is they figure the odds are against them. I can't wait for .. at leat pre season to start so we'll have something concrete to talk about .
JPW
I believe that you got your numbers turned around, the year before last the Steelers were 6-10 ...

I'm wrong .... edited to correct. I'd blame it on the beer, but I've only had one .... I'll be right back Thanks for picking up on that !! HoosierCat
Problem with all this stuff is they're going by what you did last year .... and hindsight is always 20 / 20. Very true. Which is why I tend to pay more attention to trends over multiple years vs. this year/last year stuff. And the outstanding trend with the Bengals for lo these many miserable years has been inconsistency. Encouragingly, since the '02 debacle, the team has played much more good, consistent football than it used to. But it hasn't gotten over the hump yet. It's still dropping games like Arizona two years ago, and first Cleveland and Tennessee last year. Especially in a division like the AFCN, with dangerous teams like Pitt and Baltimore, the Bengals can not afford to let winnable contests slip through their fingers. The second half of the '05 sked looks to be the hard part, but really I'm more concerned about the front, "easy" end. That's where the team needs to make hay. If the Bengals can walk out of the first 8 games with 6 W's in their pockets -- which is not far-fetched -- then we might have a real team on our hands. as_v_1
My younger brother is a Broncos fan who likes to trash the Bengals every chance he gets. (Funny how he forgets that Monday night beat down) SO I was pleased to see the Bengals ranked 5 positions better at number 5. I also found this funny, The Broncos will have figured out by midseason what Cleveland already knows: that defensive linemen Gerard Warren, Courtney Brown and Ebenezer Ekuban are average at best. I’ll be sure to remind him of these great “stud” pickups all season long.
Who?
Yeah.. taking the entire 2004 Browns defensive line is just ridiculous, we placed last in run defense for god sakes. Courtney Brown, if somehow healthy, would be the only good one, he's a "beast" if he is.
