jjakq27 Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Billy, I keep hearing about how good the Cards will be this year as well as Detroit. I am more familiar with the Lions situation but can you clue me in on the Cards. I know of Marcel Shipp and Larry Fitzgerald but not much else. Is McCown still their QB? I know I've been under a rock but we just don't see them around here too much. Quote
Who? Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Kurt Warner is now their QB for the moment, as for Shipp they drafted JJ Arrington to take his spot I believe. Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 The Cardinals wouldn't even be able to get past the 49rs to go to the Super Bowl. The Eagles, any one of the teams from the NFC North, or the Falcons would definately knock the Cards off their post. Quote
Who? Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 The Cardinals will win their division this year I'm thinking, I really do hope they win it. Quote
CBin2k7 Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 The Cards have a very underrated receiving trio.Anquan Boldin broke some kind of rookie receiving record his first year, but he was injury plagued last season. Fitzgerald and B. Johnson are also pretty goodThey signed Kurt Warner and he will start this season out there. On Defense they have a real good Safety in Adrian WilsonThey just drafted Antrel Rolle And they have an up and coming Karlos Dansby.Bertrand Berry had 14.5 sacks last season This is what I do know, watching them play a couple of games last season, they have a real good young defense. Their offense lacked a decent running game last season and consistency from the QB position. They are in a very winnable division and can make some noise if Kurt Warner can give them stability and the rookie J. J. Arrington may provide them with the running punch they need. Quote
Who? Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Yeah.. they are stacked at WR now, and they seem to have a pretty explosive offense. Quote
jjakq27 Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Thanks all for the updates. I forgot about Boldin. Isn't he holding out too, or am I thinking of a different Rosenhaus puppet? Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 All that offense, so little offensive line.... Quote

IMO the AFC is just too tough for the Bengals to advance this year. I hope I'm wrong. I'm probably not though. And the Cardinals? I wouldn't rule out the playoffs, just because the NFC has been so bad lately, the NFC West in particular...but the Cardinals were sooooo weak last year, I have no idea what anyone sees in them to get them the hype they've had this offseason. Consider this - injuries and wins are highly correlated. More often than not, a team with fewer injuries over the course of the year is going to be better than a team with more injuries. Its just common sense. But how much does it matter?...Top 11 teams in games lost to injury: 108-68, 7 teams made playoffsMiddle 10 teams: 93-67, 5 teams made playoffsBottom 11 teams: 57-119, 0 playoff teamsAs you can see, it matters a lot. How does this relate to the Cardinals? They lost the fewest starter games to injury of any team in the league and yet still compiled a 6-10 record...in a weak conference, in the league's weakest division. To me, that screams there is a lack of talent on that team. And one offseason, consisting mostly of Kurt Warner and a couple rookies, are going to change that? Doubt it. Quote
AMC Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Cardinals talk??? Wow, the NFC is really bad.... Quote

The way I see it, the Steelers, Ravens, or Bengals could win any division in the NFC...save perhaps the NFC East, because the Eagles are pretty tough. Either way, some pretty good teams in the AFC are going to be staying home next year, while perhaps another 8-8 team makes it in the NFC again. Its a shame, but the reverse was true for many years...I remember the days when the 3rd place team in the NFC East was better than any team in the AFC. Quote
