from what i heard he was a linebacker who nfl teams wanted to play safety but he didn't want to change positions so he stuck with LB

I'm pretty sure, but I'm not positive. I remember reading a couple articles on Thomas Davis this year comparing him to Derrick Brooks because of where he could be changing from safety to linebacker.
