The best backup couldn't possibly be Garcia, because he will be starting for them before mid-season.

The poll should be between Kitna and Harrington.

Anyway, I don't think anyone is getting screwed here. Garcia is a good QB, and so is Kitna. Kitna only played in 3 games last year, so most people don't remember his 2003 season. I would never trade Kitna for Garcia, but that is mostly due to his leadership. When it comes to talent, they're probably about even.

Kitna or Garcia are probably the best backups in the league, by the way Bengalsrz, you make some pretty shweet signatures, just not with the right players. ;)

Garcia did suck with the Browns, but come on, in that offence over in Detroit he should thrive like he did in San Fran.

Having Roy Williams (Did very good last year) Hopefully a healthy Charles Rogers and Mike Williams would by far be the best receiving trio in the game. Plus, with their running back, it should make for an even explosive offence.

Ahh yeah, Kevin Jones is his name, he was in my opinion the best back the second half of the season last year.

He tried, but there was no way he could play in our offense, that man can only thrive in a west coast type offense.

what about billy volek on the titans

Volek looked great against us.. How did he do against other teams?

He was phenomenal against the entire league. A lot of Titans fans down this way are murmuring that he should be the starter this year.

By the way, I have been waiting for the chance to complain about this article for a few days. I like Clark Judge's stuff, but I thought he was a bit sloppy in this instance. The offending lines:

"First, let's go over the ground rules: (1) To be significant, these guys must play for teams that are potential playoff candidates, and (2) they must be in situations where they have a chance of starting at some point."

The first part is flattering if you are a Bengals fan. The second point simply a stupid ground rule. Every starting quarterback in the league, even the seemingly unhurtable Brett Favre, is one hit away from a stay on the bench. So his list really ought to be best back-up quarterbaks on potential playoff candidates period. I was surprised to see Kitna on this list with his second ground rule, since Palmer is so clearly entrenched as the starter. The I read the write-up:

"The Bengals are going to be trouble this year, and it's because -- hallelujah -- they have a quarterback who looks like the real deal. In his first year as a starter, Carson Palmer grew into the job in a hurry, throwing for 11 touchdowns in his last four games before bowing out with a knee injury. I don't know if Palmer is fragile; all I know is that he missed the last three games."

That's just stupid. And lazy. Getting hurt once like Palmer got hurt does not mean is "fragile". Palmer went out like any quarterback can go out. Took a hit in the wrong place and got hurt. Period.

That is why a good back-up is so important. But as a criterion for this ranking? Stupid. Using his criteria, the other four quarterbacks are on teams with the qb situation in flux. Sticking Palmer on there as "fragile" was simply a lazy attempt to find a fifth qb. Dumb.

Kitna is a top back-up, period. If something happens to Palmer, the Bengals are in good hands. But Palmer's injury last season does not make Kitna "more likely" to be starting at some point this season.

Truly i thought the titans messed up by not begging McNair to retire, and using that money to get Volek some weaps A shame woulda of been a better team. I have about come to the conclusion that Tenessee is striving to be the worst team in the league this year, they want Matt Lienert to go with Mr Chow.
