Who?
That dirty dirty Collinsworth, there is no way the Bengals will play in the superbowl this year! Playoffs yes, superbowl no!
ckj414
Eagles?!?! NOOOOOooooooooo...Mark my words - the Eagles will NOT make it back to the Super Bowl this season. And even if they did, who here thinks they could actually win it with a notorious choke artist at QB? ...when the going gets tough, the tough get vomiting...But Bengals in the 'Bowl? Hmmmm...that would be nice, but the D looks like its at least a year away...
cincyhokie
Hmmm.....not this year. Not enough on defense. I can see the Eagles making it back, them, the Panthers, or the Vikings I could see in the Superbowl. Bengals...maybe 2006 IF IF IF the defense keeps improving. HairOnFire
Gayle Gardner?(sp?) I can't recall her making the prediction mentioned, but the timing would be right and she always impressed me with her knowledge. Very bright lady. Loved the red hair, too. HairOnFire
I just caught the prediction on NFL Network. Frankly, it wasn't the glowing endorsement that was previously implied. The short version is this. He called the Bengals a dark horse candidate as good as any other, said they'd be a playoff lock if they were an NFC team, and if in the NFC would be mentioned as one of the top 3 or 4 Super Bowl candidates. The biggest problem for the Bengals was said to come from the incredibly strong competition faced within their own division. After mentioning the fact that the Steelers were 15-1 and recapping the Bengals problems against the run he repeated what most have said...this team can play with anyone offensively. Quick add: A rather tubby looking version of Boomer is supposed to be on in a couple of minutes. From the look of things he probably won't be endorsing salads. From the look of things he probably won't be endorsing salads. I was right, at the start of the feature about youth football Boomer could be heard endorsing Outback Steakhouse. To be honest he didn't look very tubby unless shown in extreme profile, but before anyone jumps to his defense I'd like to point out that his gut is bigger than mine and the rules dictate that under those circumstances I get to make fun of him if I want. (And apparently I do.) Worthless note offered soley to tick off Schweinhart: Did I mention how much I love the Alice Springs chicken at Outback? I kid you not, the person who thought up putting bacon, mushrooms, and cheese on a chicken breast is a down-under genius.

Kazkal
You can still make it to a superbowl with a sub par defense you may just not win it Look @ the 2001 raiders 4# ranked offense with 19# ranked defense.

If it came down to that, I'd have to say the Bengals lose because they drafted Chris Perry instead of Darnell Dockett I'm going with the Bengals in the Super Bowl like Collinsworth says. I mean, why not watch the games this year w/ that expectation in mind. Anything less and you're just cheating yourself or else you're a Clowns fan at heart. The Big Orange
I agree with you schwein, that the Panthers are going to the Super Bowl this year. I think they beat the Eagles in the NFC Championship game.I think the Bengals lose to the Patriots in the AFC Championship, and the Patriots go on to beat the Panthers in the Super Bowl, but this is the last Super Bowl victory ever for Belichick.I also think that the reason NBC brought in Collinsworth who apparently is going to lead and put together the team at NBC, (Collinsworth who really isn't all that great...good, but not great...) is to lure in Bob Costas (Collinsworth's buddy). Now Bob Costas is great, and without peers, IMHO, in the broadcast field.
