walzav29
Minnesota, Houston, Tennessee, Green Bay, Indianapolis, Detroit and Kansas City instead of New England, Miami, Philly, Denver, Washington, Jets, and Cowboys. That is very favorable for our offense. Even though we went 4-3 with the teams listed above, it was still alot more physical than it will be this year. That means they'll be healthier and more confident.
GROIIIDayton
i think that means we won't be tested as hard. I would rather play a tough schedule if we make the playoffs. That said I would rather have a home playoff game then spend a couple grand going to watch them play somewhere else.
walzav29
It's all about the confidence with the young guys. They will be tested plenty by their own division. Spare the beatings as much as possible.

derekshank
Sure, but beating them is a lot easier on your home feild, and if you are healthy and confident. Home field advantage will give them the type of confidence they need, and baltimore and pittsburgh are hit-you-in-the-mouth type teams, so they'll know how to play agianst good teams.I'll take a soft schedule and get home feild advantage any day. You definitely want to be able to beat the better teams in the league, but a team that went 12-4 and has home field advantage is going to have more confidence to do it, than a team that is in the middle of the season. Just my opinion, but I'll take a soft schedule over a brutal one. However, it's hard to say anything about a soft schedule right now. It looks pretty soft, but teams that got to play San Diego last year probably thought it was an automatic win too.

Frankly, this is a harder schedule in my mind because while we can put up points even against stronger defenses, we didn't do so well last season in holding people back. We let the CLOWNS score over 40 points on us! Minnesota, Indianapolis, Green Bay, Detroit, and Kansas City can ALL put up a LOT of points. BC Bengal
We are not going to the superbowl until we can beat those types of teams 5 wins out of the 7 teams listed, not bad. Although the Philly game was a gimme, I thought we had New England until Carson went down. And the loss to the Jet's was Carson's first start...A win is a win, no matter who you're playing. BengalByTheBay
IMO the key is how we do in our division. Beat those guys and you would assume that, whichever of the out of division teams end up being good (which is hard to predict year-to-year now), they will do as much damage to our division foes as they will to us. It's hard to predict how good teams will be with all of the off-season movement. It may end up being a matter of when we play these teams. For example, Minn. looks to have improved a lot, but has moved in a lot of new faces. If they turn out to live up to those expectations, catching them in week 2 could be a blessing as they should still be finding out how to play their new guys. I guess one of the main things to look for are how our schedules differ. For instance, the teams we play, and they don't, and vice versa. We Play vs. Buf and @ K.C.Baltimore plays vs. NYJ and @ DenPittsburgh plays vs. N.E. and @ S.D.Looks like Baltimore has the advantage to me, and Pitt and us are fairly even. Also Pittsburgh has to face both Indy and Minnesota on the road, whereas we and Baltimore get them at home. The schedule looks unfavorable to Pittsburgh. For us it depends on J.P. Losman and K.C.'s defense. Baltimore I don't know what to think about either of those teams. I don't think Denver's going to be a playoff team, but the Jets could be real good again, depending on Pennington's shoulder.

HoosierCat
Virtually any sked would be easier than last year, ditty; our opponents' combined winning % was something like .541, which would put us in the top 3 of the 2005 projection. And yes, it's nice to get the tougher games at home. That certainly won't hurt. But we still gotta play 'em and we still gotta win 'em and that still means we have to beat some good teams. jditty47
with our division playing how it is we will never have a schedule at the bottom of the league. we will always have a hard schedule u just have to look at the advantages of it. this year there are a ton of more advantages than last. which equals an easier schedule.to go above .500 no matter who you are or what your schedule is, you will have to beat some good teams to do it. HoosierCat
Well, like I said, it should be easier whether you consider who we play home vs. away or not. This year's home/away lineup looks friendlier, but I don't know that I'd say it has a "ton" of advantages. We had good teams at home last year -- Baltimore, Buffalo, Pitt -- and we still lost, and we dropped "easy" games like Tennessee and Cleveland on the road. And I thought some of their best games, like second Baltimore and the Pats game (even tho we lost) came on the road.
CBin2k7
I feel like the Bengals have a bunch of trap games this year. Unlike last year when the schedule was hard and you knew it. This year the schedule seems soft but has some games that you just don't know about. at Chicago, at Tennessee, at Detroit, Houston. With the exception of the Titans all these teams are believed to be up and comers and right there with the Bengals. And you know how Steve McNair performs against the Bengals especially in Nashville. These teams probably even expect to win those games to have successful seasons. I hope the team pulls it off. I believe they can but these games are not to be taken lightly and none are gimmes, and the schedule is not soft.
AMC
Its too hard to judge a team or schedule based on last years performance. All the defenses we play this year may be much improved. Its hard to say until they actually start playing. That being said, I think if the Bengals play defenses as good as those last year they would still do better. I see good things. :player: :player: :player:
