Ok, who's the best WR the Bengals have ever had. Pickens was good but he wasn't a team player. Cry baby! Chris Collinsworth has the most career receptions (417). Darney Scott had a 4.3 speed in the 40-yard dash, which made him the Bengals' best deep threat from 1994-99. Chad Johnson is awesome. TJ is getting there. PW hasn't lived up to expectations in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I love Chad Johnson as the #1 reciever but he is more hype than sheer talent. We are better when we have an equally talented player on the other side of the field. Proof is in the difference when Warrick was healthy in '03 and TJ last year. I put him on equal footing with Marvin Harrison but look at last year with all the other WRs on that team. Harrison had less receptions but overall the TEAM was better.

Darnay Scott and Carl Pickens played on bad teams. Isaac Curtis played on very conservative, run first teams. Mostly short passes. Ken Anderson was Isaac Curtis' QB. The Bengals in those days were predominantly dink and dunk and screen passes.

I have always had trouble comparing players from different eras. Especially when these days teams are more pass oriented. In Curtis' era how many WR had 90-100 catches per year? I still think Jim Brown's stats can not be compared to Sweetness and Emmitt. Players get bigger and faster every year. Bigger rosters and better year round conditioning.

Can anyone tell me the roster limits, 1957-1965. I think it was like 43 or smaller.

You made some good points Rimington! You also got to take a look at some of the guys who were great in college but were bust in the NFL. A lot of those guys were put into systems that they weren't used to! You can take a guy who's great in an West coast system and see how he performs in another system. He may do better but most of the time, he doesn't.

How quickly we forget Eddie -down town brown. He was better than Darnay scott. Hell Tim Mcgee had a couple of good years. Ill even throw Steve Kreider out there(although he wouldnt make anybodies list) He was fun to watch.

The greatest would still be Pikens at this point but Chad will over take him.

The Best year would go to Eddie Brown, in 88 he averaged 24 yards a catch.

Fav Kreider. :D

peter warrick was getting to his expectations with the season before the last, but because of his chin injury i doubt he wil return and play like he did two seasons ago.

We just did a thread on Bengals wide receivers a couple of months a go.

I believe that is was Chad and Isaac Curtis who won the Vote to the Bengals' All-Time Team.

True, but so much has changed since then. <_<

Heh. Very nice. I like the understatement.
