HoosierCat Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Corey Dillon wanted to go to another team, because he wanted to win. He never said anything like i wouldnt play for a team on the franchise tag. Lemme get this straight: saying "I'd rather flip burgers than play for Cincinnati" = not having said "I won't play."But saying "We'll see" = saying "I won't play."Hmmm. And Ignorance is Strength, eh?With all the injuries the pats had last year, if they didnt have dillon they wouldnt of won the super bowl.Yeah, they could never win a Super Bowl with Kevin Faulk as their main guy...oh...wait a minute... The Big Orange Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Alright, Pushy...just answer me this one thing...name the thing that Rudi could do, or the stats that he would need so that you would actually accept him as an ok player? This obviously can't include rushing yards (unless 1455 was just unacceptable) or having a good attitude or not being a show boat...so tell me...what do you want? Is there a measuring point that you would be happy with? Or has this lousy excuse for a 4th round pick hurt and dissapointed you so deeply that there is irreconcialble sadness in your emotons about out current starting running back? Quote
HairOnFire Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Corey Dillon wanted to go to another team, because he wanted to win. He never said anything like i wouldnt play for a team on the franchise tag. You're either dead wrong or a liar. Not sure I care to determine which. Corey Dillon went angrily into free agency over money matters, later attempted to force a trade between the Bengals and the Chiefs over money, and repeatedly threatened to sit out the first ten games of the season due to his unhappiness about being tagged. Money, money, money. And before being traded to the world champions Dillon attempted to force a trade to the Oakland Raiders despite the fact that the Raiders were a team with a worse won/loss record who would almost certainly be firing it's head coach and embarking on a rebuilding phase. Why? Mostly because Dillon had pissed in his own bed so often that he needed a change of scenery. But scratch below that surface and I have little doubt Dillon pictured more money being tossed his way as soon as he got his ticket punched out of Cincy. Last, let's never forget what happened the moment the Bengals offered an amount of money that Dillon agreed he was worth. Yeah, he signed a long-term contract to remain a Bengal. And why did he do that? Money. Quote

I already accept him as an OK player. Because thats what he is, mediocre. I want more for the team, but it appears most fans have accepted mediocrity because of the past 13 years. Im done with this arguement here though, 2 pages of it is enough. We all know where everyone stands on this, and i dont see anyone changing their opinion anytime soon. Quote

I'd rather Pushy write an honest comparison highliting the difference in production between Chris Perry and a dead guy. And if writing about a dead guy and a busted football player is a bit too dark for his tastes, how about a yardage gained comparison between Perry and a wooden cigar-store Indian? Don't laugh, I bet it's close. Real close. Quote

Don't laugh, I bet it's close. Real close. Or how about a comparison between Chris Perry and Rudi Johnson at the same point in their careers? We can even throw the dead guy in if you want. Score is 34-0-0. Chris Perry wins. RJ and the dead guy tie for last. Only difference is, Perry and Dead guy had reasons for lack of production, Perry was injured, and Dead guy is dead, RJ just wasnt good enough to crack the lineup. Now stfu about Perry, your obviously just a hater. Quote
HairOnFire Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Or how about a comparison between Chris Perry and Rudi Johnson at the same point in their careers? We can even throw the dead guy in if you want. Fair enough. At the same point in their careers Rudi Johnson hadn't gained a single yard, but he had showed up for work healthy and ready to go every single day....a neat trick he has managed to do for his entire career as a Bengal. Chris Perry somehow can't stay healthy for games, practices, or payday. Meanwhile, the dead guy on the team can often be seen walking around the trainers office doing a very convincing imitation of Chris Perry's limp. The dead guy has also been known to drop to the ground without warning, grabbing his groin before falling on his wallet. Trust me, you're not likely to find a better Chris Perry imitation outside of a nursing home. Best of all, the dead guy has now moved ahead of Perry on the depth chart....but who hasn't? In response to these slights Chris Perry can often be heard loudly make fun of the size of a dead guys paycheck. But it should be noted that you can only hear Perry's bitter mocking if the trainer has mistakenly left the door to his office open. Quote
HairOnFire Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Now stfu about Perry, your obviously just a hater. Not going to happen. Frankly, I hate to see a chump like you have all the fun. Besides, whether I'm involved or not I think it's been proven that most Chris Perry threads end up being debates about how much time has to pass before everyone agrees to call him a bust. It seems for most people it's not really a question of if, but of when. Hardly matters though. We've got Rudi. Quote
Spain Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 Wow any thread can turn into a dillon Rudi thread-: Marvin let Dillon and Spikes go because they wanted to. Marvin made a statment to the leauge that you were not trapped in cincy. Thats exactly what we needed at that time! Quote
HairOnFire Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 Wow any thread can turn into a dillon Rudi thread-: So true, but any thread entitled Underrated/Overrated has got to include a mention of Rudi Johnson, the most underrated player on the Bengals roster, as well as a quick mention of Chris Perry...a player Chick Ludwig called "the biggest bust in the entire draft" in the spankin' new 2005 Sporting News NFL Guide. He also said Perry's future was uncertain, but went on to say that Perry busting wasn't much of an issue because..."the Bengals don't need Perry". What too often goes unsaid is that they never did. BTW, I can't recall which guide predicted that Rudi would break his own single season Bengal rushing record this season, but I wouldn't rule it out. Quote
