combatbengal Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 In your mind, who was the best and worst special teams player for the Bengals? Breech was really good, after all he is the all time leading scorer for the team. (1,151 points) and Graham is turning out to be a great one. I can't think of who was the worst! Quote
7/11 Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 neil rackers...only kicker we've had that i'd hold my breath for on a 25-yd attempt. Quote

andybren Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 It's hard to imagine Rackers costing Doug Pelfrey his job. Even harder to imagine is that the Cardinals signed him after we cut him. Quote

Didn't Opie break Pelfrey's record last year?Graham is the best kicker we have ever had in Cincinnati (at least he is if he continues to be as accurate as he has been so far).Worst? Pick anyone between Pelfrey and Graham.... Quote
LABengalsFan09 Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 Worst: Travis Dorsch.... High Draft pick wasted. At least Rackers could at least blame the horrendous sod on the field affecting his kicks. Heck, he's been outstanding for AZ. All Dorsch had to do was drop it onto his foot and blast off. Thank god for Kyle Larson!!!!! Quote

They wanted to make him a punter and a place kicker. Quote
combatbengal Posted July 6, 2005 Author Report Posted July 6, 2005 You guys didn't like Breech? Quote
jtsmith38 Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 I figured Dorsch would have been a beast as a kicker for them. But he seemed like a train wreck ever since he was drafted. Quote
TJJackson Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 See the picture to the left......Look him up......Reggie Myles.(The coverage guys are on special teams too :-) Quote
Ickey44 Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 He may be a good special teams guy, but he sucks at cornerback. Quote
DesperateDerelict Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 Without a doubt, the worst ST player in the history of the Bengals was . . . . LEE JOHNSON! He led the universe in touchbacks and 20 yard punts, and was the WORST player, year in and year out, of some very bad teams. He was the pits, and if there was a Hall of Shame for NFL has-beens, would be a shoe-in! Quote
TJJackson Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 He may be a good special teams guy, but he sucks at cornerback.Well, see **I** was responding to a thread about special teams players, not about cornerbacks.I don't think anyone will tell you that Steve tasker was a great wide receiver, but he was the shizznitt on special teams......I think the contributions he made on coverage teams last year were every bit as important as the contributions any cornerback made on defense. Yes, any cornerback. Including the all pro James.Special teams are no longer an afterthought in Cincinnati...thank god. Quote
Ickey44 Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 I know. It just burns me up that so many people think he's great when he's not. Special teams are important, don't get me wrong, but couldn't we get someone who plays just as good on special teams coverage that has a clue at their normal position? Myles gets burned everytime he's out there trying to cover a receiver. Quote

Myles gets burned everytime he's out there trying to cover a receiver. He does have a clue on his "normal" position. His "normal" position is as a SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER. Next you'll be bitching about our long snapper Brad St. Louis because he is listed as a TE and doesn't play that position very well. Quote
Ickey44 Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Wow. Settle down, Beavis. We have many other players who could do just as good as Myles on coverage that can also contribute as a backup more adequately than he does. Quote
The Big Orange Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 After the year in review show, our special teams looked really good...I think Keiwan was really coming along...we'll see between him and TJ Quote
