Brace yourself...here it is...you never thought you'd see the day you'd see something good in print about one of our TE's outside of Bengals.com ... but here it is...

However the same guy says we may have a top 5 offense so he could be a bit of a homer...if this link is broken...like all of the other ones have been, I'll be so depressed I'll eat a salad...first my pics...then my links

Four touchdowns in limited use last year. He'll be a bigger factor in '05

He will?

This guy is no homer. He's a realist. He see's the fact that the Bengals TE's were used in a limited fashion last season to help in pass blocking to keep Carson from suffering from what I like to call "The David Klingler Shell Shock Effect."

Read about ol' Daves rookie season and the amont of sheer punishment he took behind poor protection, and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Schobel is a worthy TE. The way we drafted on draft day makes me believe Marvin feels the same way.

Also keep in mind that we're talking fantasy football. People who don't watch every game see 4 TD's and don't care if the guy contributed in any way to the drive to get there. Maybe he'll score 6 or 7 TD's next year, but that doesn't necessarily mean we're fully utilizing the position.

By means of comparison...

K. Washington 31 receptions 3 TD's

M. Schobel 21 receptions 4 TD's

K. Watson 25 receptions 1 TD

He has been reported on having a great offseason . He has come into this year 20 pounds heavier to help him with his blocking. However this guy cant run the powerO. so he is going to continue to see limited time so dont buy into that. I could see him in on the 3 wrs and two TEs package. so that might inflate his numbers some but I wouldnt go near him on Fantasy: IMHO

Will see, i'd put him in over stewert anyday,Kelly on the other hand i'd keep for run plays :P

~~~ Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals TE Matt Schobel wants to be recognized as a complete player, not just as a pass-receiving tight end, and has worked hard this offseason to improve his blocking technique. "I feel like I improved in blocking, and (tight ends) coach (Jonathan) Hayes says blocking is 80 percent 'want to,' and I want to get better at it," Schobel said. "You can sit around and feel good about your strengths or work really hard to improve your weaknesses. I had a desire to prove I can block. Then you're not in there just on third down."
It would be nice if he could block. We are tuipping teams off to our O by having to change TEs. If schobel could just be an average blocker it would open up the play fake. I can still remeber Holman having great years with the boomers play fake. If he can get in on the power o watch out he could be a real sleeper for a fantasy team. Ill be watching if he lines up on running plays this preseason.IMHO
I see Schoebel continuing to get better.
He will go very much under the radar this year with defenses keying on Rudi, CJ, and TJ.
I think both Henry and Schoebel will put up some good numbers this year.
