andybren
Just because St. Louis is listed as an emergency TE doesn't mean he should be put on the chopping block whenever the talk goes to the team's lack of a good, every down TE. Personally, I think good training camps/pre-seasons by Chris Perry and Jeremi Johnson will end the desperate need for the next Antonio Gates. But for what it's worth, the guy they picked up a few weeks ago, Kori Dickerson (did I get the name right?) is in that mold. A friend of mine who's a diehard Trojan fan met him a few years ago and says the guy's quite the physical specimen. They tried him out at DE and LB before making him a TE. He could be the TE of the future, if he gets the Stacy Andrews treatment.
OSUBengal
He'll get every shot he needs. He just needs to show up without an injured hammy. I honestly think Schoebel is going to hae a pretty good year this year. With all of the other weapons we have, he is going to be open a lot. I honestly believe that Matt Schobel will make the squad again and make one great catch, but drop every other freaking important ball thrown to him all season...Oh wait, that's not a prediction, that's history. ArmyBengal
St. Louis isn't going anywhere and if for some dumba$$ reason he does, I believe our special teams takes a huge hit. The talk of TE kills me... We don't use them enough in our Offense and with the WR corps we have, why bother ?? One of TE's has to go, it's crazy to keep them all when they only do one thing well and each one have their own thing. Stupid. If our run-D blows monkey balls again, DT will still be a priority next offseason going into the draft IMO.WHODEY !!!
derekshank
DT will still be a priority next offseason going into the draft IMO.WHODEY !!! Agreed... Askew is the only promising young DT we have, and he hasn't proven anything yet. Thornton is good, but both he and Robinson are getting a bit older. DT is where we need to look. I'm tired of focusing all our energy on draft day on offense... how many super bowls has Peyton Manning won with that defense backing him up?I liked this years draft because it addressed our greatest needs - defense. We have a strong offense with or without a pass catching TE, so I think it would be a waste to spend a 1st round pick on one. When it's all said and done, Lewis usually takes the best value for the pick that we have, but I think I'll be pretty disappointed with a TE, unless there are no good lineman left, and there is an Antonio Gates type TE waiting for us.Hey.. are we talking about next years draft? This season hasn't even started yet!!!
