Hamburg Sea Devils on network TV today

Recommended Posts

Fox is showing Hamburg vs. Berlin at 1 PM ET/12 PM CT. In most cases I would watch it just because it's football, but I will actually have an interest in this one, as will those of you who choose to watch it.

I wanna see our third-stringer put it on some mf'ers :player:

WHO DEY

I only caught the first couple drives (including a nice Bramlet TD pass). But Casey looked decent. He should have had a TD on the drive that ended in the blocked FG, and he made a nice read on one dumpoff to the slot guy -- their top receiver -- when Berlin played him about 12 yards off the line.

I watched the whole game. Pretty frustrating. I've watched enough Hamburg games now that I was actually pulling for them to win instead of merely watching as an excuse to drink European beer.

A few random thoughts...

Bramlet seemed to have a nice feel for the game before giving way to the backup in the 2nd quarter. Never seemed to regain his edge after that.

Definately should have gotten a TD pass on a perfectly thrown 35 or 38 yard toss to the corner of the endzone that his WR made a poorly timed one-handed attempt to grab. Multiple views showed no reason why the WR couldn't have gotten both hands on the ball....or jumped to meet it.

Showed a great feel for working with the TE on crossing routes. Several throws were thread-the-needle types that produced very good yardage.

Could be seen working thru his progressions on several plays...locked totally onto his primary receiver on a few others. Needs much more work looking off defenders.

When he's off target he usually misses high...resulting in plenty of tipped passes that are potential picks.

Shows very good mobility, but lacks a feel for the pass rush. I thought he took several sacks when he should have gotten rid of the ball quicker or stepped forward to avoid the rush.

Bottom Line: A mixed bag, but Bramlet does what the announcers keep reminding viewers what NFLe is all about. That being, he flashes big play ability from time to time. Or to put it another way, on individual plays he shows why he's worth developing.
