The positive financial impact a Nextel Cup race brings to a tracks immediate area is HUGE! It's ranked right up there with other events such as the Super Bowl, political party national conventions, etc., so if such a sale does indeed take place, it will only be to a person/party who will be able to enhance this prospect.

Rumor has it that NASCAR wants to buy in and put in a Nextel Cup race, however the current owners want to not go that route so that they are the ones that make the money.

That's just what I've heard on talk radio, not a credible source.
