The_Next_Big_Thing Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 I'm going a different direction from most, and looking at the players age along with their production because I want someone who we could have for a LONG time.1. Kevin Williams, DT, Minnesota. In his second year in the league, he has had 10.5 and 11.5 sacks in his first two seasons. At 6'5", 311 pounds, he clogs the middle and has forced two fumbles as well. He'd be a great guy at a position of need.2. Ed Reed. He's only in his 4th year, and he's one of the best strong safeties in the league. Plus it would hurt the Ratbirds to lose him. Quote

Damn, that was an inspired choice. I wasn't even thinking about Kevin Williams, and he's already one of the best DTs in the NFC.Bravo to you, sir. Quote

You beat me to it. As I was reading the endless string of Ed Reed's plus (name your own defensive lineman from Freeney, Stroud, Jenkins, Peppers, etc.), the name Kevin Williams came to my mind too. I may be a little biased because the first two guys I added to my Madden Bengals were Reed and K. Williams. It's amazing how everyone instantly chose Reed. He's obviously a stud, but I wonder if fans from a different division would think as highly of him as we do. I guess he was the Defensive Player of the Year, so we're probably not alone.Good pointless question. Obviously we all agree that Reed is a STUD!! Quote
kentjett Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 I would take either Peppers or Freeney(both equally as productive)Freeney has better numbers but Peppers has more talent. Then I would have to go w/ SS Roy Williams,I believe he is better than Ed Reed.He is the hardest hitting player in the league.Williams and Reed are in a league of their own, nobody elses name should be mentioned when it comes to strong safety. Kazkal Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Reed+Jason taylor orThomas Davis/Jason taylorI woulden't mind having Winslow if hes not all hype if we had a threat like him at TE would be crazy Quote
schweinhart Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Thomas Davis would have been great... But I'd don't think the Bengals had any other thought than drafting Pollack in the 1st rd. He is a 1st rate a$$ kicker. Quote
Kazkal Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Yup at first I wanted to cry when I saw panthers draft davis...(favorite nfc team)But then as soon as I saw pollack I feel in love with him <3 it would be cool if we could "aquire" Thomas somehow though Sure he would fit in with pollack and odell Quote
Kazkal Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Aren't the ravens having problems resigning Reed? mybe we can have the chance of picking him up this or next year once we cut nate webster. Quote
bengalboy40 Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 i envision us gettin some cap relief in the next couple years...guys we will get rid of-simmonsj. smiththorntonjameswarrick (sadly)websterall these guys make a decent chunk of cash...will free up some loot to start nabbin free agents....ed reed *cough*...dwight freeney *cough* *cough* Quote
Kazkal Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 I don't wanna see j. smith go till we atleast have 2 DE's better then him atm we may have 1 but it's not for sure. Quote
DesperateDerelict Posted May 12, 2005 Author Report Posted May 12, 2005 So, let me get this straight . . . according to (almost) all of the previous posters, if we sign Ed Reed as a FA in 2006 and draft the very best DL, we will be prohibitive favorites to win the AFC?Maybe Mikey Brown is finally right . . . we're only a player or two away!
