combatbengal
1st of all, I'm a die hard fan and want to win in a bad way, jut like the rest of you. Do you all remember when we drafted Justin Smith and thought that he would help us get into the playoffs. He's a good play but we didn't get into the playoffs with him. Same with Palmer. Now I know last year was his 1st year in the line up and he did a good job, but we didn't get into the playoffs. Do you think that Pollack and Thurman are the guys to get us into the playoffs? Man I hope so. I want to the Bengals to win in a bad way. Getting tired of seeing those old Super Bowls on ESPN with the 49ers beating us. Go Bengals

Palmer doesn't get hurt against the Pats, we go to the playoffs. Plain and simple. Not to mention our D blew.
BDDFC
I think the difference is we aren't expecting the new guys to carry us there, just help us get there. The team is worlds better than when we drafted Smith. And no first year QB is going to get you to the playoffs. But he should this year. BengalszoneBilly
And no first year QB is going to get you to the playoffs. But he should this year. Would somebody call Pittsburgh and let Ben Rothlisberger know he screwed up! Sheesh... ...rookies.

Going 7 for 11 for 130 yards isn't "leading" it was the defense and running game that got them there. Don't give the rook too much credit. He's good, he isn't that good. Not to mention our D blew.Or if Palmer CAME BACK INTO THE GAME like Richie Braham did. Maybe Palmer sucks it up and goes next time when the playoffs are on the line. And yes the D absolutely blew vs. Pats. Pollack and Thurman sure can't hurt the Bengals D this year. BengalszoneBilly
Don't give the rook too much credit. He's good, he isn't that good. Oh, I'm not! But by default of being the QB, he did "lead" them. He'll have a tougher time this season no doubt!
combatbengal
I think our off will kick some butt this year. If we can get our def to actually tackle and get some int's we'll get into the playoffs.

BengalszoneBilly
I think our off will kick some butt this year. If we can get our def to actually tackle and get some int's we'll get into the playoffs. You know, I just cannot fathom Marvin Lewis building a defense that's going to continue having the defensive problems that have afflicted the Bengals for the past two years under his control! If you look at his complete pro coaching history before coming to Cincinnati, it all suggests that it will not go on! While the linebackers coach in Pittsburgh, ('92 to '95) he helped that defense rank in the top 3 in the league 3 out of 4 of those years. I don't think I need to point out what he accomplished in Baltimore from '96 to '01. He wears a Super Bowl ring because of it! Then while he was briefly in Washington, they went to a top 5 defense. He left, and they plummeted to 22nd the following season. I'm not saying that drop-off was 100% due to his absense, it surely played a good percentage of it.All of this points to a change of fortune is in store defensively for the Bengals. And soon! History is actually on the side of the Bengals here. I know there will be plenty of doubters here due to personell aquired, or not aquired, and certainly I could be wrong ( not AGAIN!) and Marvin could continue to fail defensively with this team, but...I doubt it. It's just not his proven style! Well, that and I haven't seen any Super Bowl rings adorning any fingers here in this forum!
BengalNation1281
Well I did buy Jose Canseco's World Series ring on Ebay. Does that count?

Actually, Big Ben didn't really lead them...he merely hypnotized his teammates by making them stare into that hideous thing camped out on his dome. And my Jose Canseco World Series Ring was purchased for $29.95 and a bag of Big league Chew.
