Things I've learned from Cowboys fans

Recommended Posts

Living in Amarillo, I am surrounded by Cowboys fans, and I talk to some of them on a fairly regular basis. In this offseason, I have talked to quite a few about their chances in 2005, and this is what I have learned:

1. Drew Bledsoe is the franchise savior. It doesn't matter that his stats have gone down in the last few years and that his time in Buffalo (and the last couple of years in NE) was marked by bad play and poor decision-making in clutch situations, he is the savior. He didn't have anyone to throw to in Buffalo, and his stats were a reflection of the poor WR corps around him. Bledsoe is way, way better than Testaverde, and he will have a breakout year in 2005 and take the Cowboys to the playoffs.

2. Keyshawn Johnson is one of the best receivers in the NFL. Even though he hasn't made any important catches in the last two or three years and is one of the loudest mouths in the NFL with no real production to back up his claims of greatness, he is one of the best in the NFL. Bledsoe and Keyshawn will be one of the best QB-WR combos in the NFL in 2005.

3. The Cowboys are now the best team in the NFC East and will storm through the season and make everyone forget about the 6-10 disaster in 2004, when they had no defense and little offense.

4. Anyone who has anything bad to say about the Cowboys, even when quoting statistics and factual evidence to back up their point, is an idiot and should not be allowed to have an opinion.

5. Even when a team has a better record than the Cowboys and manhandled them 26-3 in the 2004 season, that doesn't mean that the other team is better. Making such a claim makes you an idiot.

Alright, I know that some of you have gained some "insight" from a Cowboys fan at one time or another...please share these nuggets of wisdom.

Down here in San Antonio, I have learned that:

1.) The Cowboys are America's team and everyone in America loves them. The Cowboys are the national treasure -- anyone who says otherwise is un-American.

2.) It's not only logical and perfectly acceptable, but the NFL/ABC should be applauded for looking past the records (6 - 10) and putting the "best" team on MNF.... twice!

Why of course he's their FOOTBALL savior! I'm sure that it matters not that Testeverdes career numbers:

Gms:217/Comp%56.6/Yds:44475/AvgYds:6.93/TDS:268/INTS:255/QBRate:75.4

may appear to be slightly better than Bledsoes:

Gms:172/Comp%57.0/Yds:39808/AvgYds:6.58/TDS:221/INTS:181/QBRate:76.7

These are just stupid facts, which in turn automatically makes me...like you said BN:

...thank you. An idiot! ^_^

Here's more proof! I agree that an 8-8 team which did manhandled them 26-3 is better than a 6-10, admittedly "stupid team," (by the Head Coach and Star player:)

"We have a stupid team, a stupid team that false starts, that doesn't protect the ball, that gives up big plays," safety Roy Williams told the Forth Worth Star-Telegram. "We are a stupid team. We do stupid things that lose games."

WHOOMP!!! There it is! Straight from the Cowboys mouth!

...please share these nuggets of wisdom.

Sorry there "grasshopper", but trying to find true nuggets of wisdom from a Plowboys fan is about like trying to grow corn in a freshly paved field. :P

The one thing I love about San Antonio, besides the fact this city is great, is for every person you find who loves the Cowboys, you'll find two that HATE them. We go to a place called Fatso's to watch the games on Sunday and the place consistently breaks out into the chant of, "COWBOYS SUCK, COWBOYS SUCK". It's music to your ears !!! Hate hearing the whole "America's Team" s**t. I always ask them if they played the Bengals last year and how it went, knowing well and good we handed to them !! Puts a smile on my face every time !! :D

WHODEY !!!
