TJJackson Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 If they were trying to fill a need at OG, they should have gone for Scott Young, who is much stronger and a much better prospect.Maryland's CJ Brooks or Vanderbilt's Justn Geisenger would also have been better picks at OG.But bottom line, OG isn't as big a need as S or DL, perhaps not even as big as TE. EdwardG Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 This guy may play guard, but he's more likely to be a tackle. Last year, we lived through a nightmare on the offensive line, and had Willie gone down, we would be cooked. Nothing can sink your team faster than a lack of depth on the offensive line. Young and Brooks are projects who wouldn't help the team, and Geisenger can't play tackle. Kieft looks like someone who can play right now, and has the ability to develop into a starter. Nothing wrong with that. Quote

I couldn't agree MORE !! - fine offensive lineman, but very hard to think that' we are done retooling this defense.?* To Marvin and Co.'s credit, I'll say that maybe their perception of our offensive line depth is much less than how we perceive it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------1. Anttaj Hawthorne-DT2. Earnest Shazor-SS3. James Butler-FS4. Brandon Browner-CB/S5. Derrick Johnson-CB6. Jovan Haye - Dethere's something going on here in day 2 that I don't like ! Quote
TJJackson Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 This guy may play guard, but he's more likely to be a tackle. <snip>Nothing wrong with that.So that's why you like this pick. You actually believe this fellow can play tackle in the NFL.Allow me to explain. He'll play guard if he plays at all. If.The guy who will step in for Willy if he goes down THIS year is Andrews, who has had a year to learn the system.Aside: Ah, the fat pothead just went to the raiders. a Good fit there. Quote
EdwardG Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Allow me to explain. He'll play guard if he plays at all. If.And why is that? Quote
TJJackson Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 I already explained about AndrewsKieft lacks the athleticism to play tackle - even RT - in the NFLhttp://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/playerpro.../adamkieft.html Quote
EdwardG Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 So all those scouts that classify him as an offensive tackle are wrong? Quote
TJJackson Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 No No NoThey list him as OT because that's where he played in college. What scouts do you know who are projecting him to OT? Mind you, geoff Hobson is a writer, not a NFL Scout or coach.Oh, one other thing: the Kieft pick was monumentally bad, and I didn';t think they could do worse. The Tab perry pick is indeed worse. So take heart in the fact that the Kieft pick is no longer the very worst pick by The Bengals this year. Quote
belmontbengal Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Good thing you are here to set the record straight for us, TJ.Good grief you would think that these last 2 days will be dictating who will be in Detroit for the big dance.Take a breather, step away from the television. In Marvin I Trust Quote
EdwardG Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 They list him as OT because that's where he played in college.Really. Well, I guess they must list Matt Jones as a Quarterback.http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/playerpro.../mattjones.htmlOh wait, no they don't. You keep saying this guy is a guard. I haven't seen anyone besides you call him a guard, or say he projects as a guard. Everyone lists him as a tackle, and that's because he is a tackle. Quote
