TigerCub
Before calling me crazy, hear me out on this one. I know we need a hitter at Strong Safety. With both Pollack and Thurman in the mix, is it possible that Marvin could be thinking of moving Landon Johnson to Strong Safety? I know there was a rumor about moving Caleb Miller to SS, but I think that Johnson could be effective there. He weighed 227 this year and was the fastest linebacker in the draft last year. That is a good size for a SS. With Pollard, Thurman, Simmons at LB and Johnson at SS we could be outstanding against the run. Johnson, in my opinion, has the speed to take over the position. This would allow us to keep the 4-3 defense and it could give us a better SS than any available in the draft, including Thomas Davis. Afterall, I have heard rumblings that Johnson has a difficult time keeping on weight, he could be perfect for SS.Thoughts...
schweinhart
I won't call you crazy Cub. The first uni # Landon was issued was #47, which is traditionally a # for a safety. Besides all that, yes, Landon would be a perfect SS because of his skill set. No one has more range in open space on the team, IMO.
JPW
I believe that Landon did play some SS in college ...
schweinhart
He sure looks like he knows how to do it. TV doesn't do justice to seeing how much ground Landon covers. I guess he just proved that he had more worth at LB, especially MLB as the season unfolded. I like watching him play and hope his shoulders hold up. TJJackson
The drafting of both Thurman and Pollack (who is well suited to play ILB) make this move even more of a possibility.

HairOnFire
Wouldn't call anyone crazy for floating the idea but I'm betting the Bengals add a safety before the sun goes down tomorrow. Most of the SS class remains undrafted and there are some interesting tweener types that may be of interest.

bengalboy40
real interesting. if that happened, we would definitely be able to play the run...not sure 'bout landon's coverage skills.
