jjakq27
GH was on the Angry Guys show this morning with Richard Skinner. He mentioned a few points of interest. Much of this has been speculated upon here before but I thought it might be worth sharing. He doubts that the Bengals would trade up. After the fourth or fifth pick there aren't any compelling picks worth trading up for. There are so many guys available deep into the second round. He mentioned that he suspects they will take SS Thomas Davis if he is there based on need to shore up the defense. However he did say that WR is also a real possibility based on the expectations of this offense. Perhaps one more deep threat would be all we need to get to 10 or 11 wins. There was also discussion about letting PDub go after June 1.He also mentioned that the team would be a little gun-shy about drafting a tweener LB based off of their experience with Reinard Wilson. He did mention Derrick Johnson but doubted that he would be around when we pick.
Abqbengal
Why would this coaching staff be worried about a tweener as none of them where here when Retard was drafted. That statement just doesn't make sense

That statement just doesn't make senseThat's just the view that GH got probebly from a sitdown with all the draft decision makers which would include Mikey. Anyway, I am also one to worry about drafting tweeners and moving them to new positions. When it works it works great. When it doesn't, what a mess. That statement just doesn't make sense Mike Brown was here, and he does have a say in who the Bengals draft.
CJBestInAFC
The Tweener that I would draft if the Bengals go that way would be David Pollack. He was an amazing defensive player through his entire college career. He shows up and plays with that nonstop motor. Forget WR in the first. Draft Jerome Mathis in the second round. This guy is the burner the Bengals need. 5'11 190 pounds and runs 4.31 second in the 40. The only knock on him is that he played Division AA. He is also great at returning kicks. BeyondTheJungle
I've completed my analysis of the defensive positional reviews and I really think Thomas Davis would be the best pick in the first round. I'm still wrapping up the offensive side of the ball, but I would be disappointed if the Bengals don't get Davis or another defensive player in round one. TecmoFever
I keep saying it--give me a Georgia guy. 1st choice--Davis2nd choice--Pollack2nd to last choice--Problem DT (take your pick)Last choice--Offensive Tackle. When I heard speculation of the Bengals taking Alex Barron, I about wanted to puke.

ShulaSteakhouse
Ourlad's has the Bengals' taking Clayton at 17, over Cody and Pollack, with Davis going one spot before them to the Saints. If Clayton is there, can you pass him up? (would also mean the end of Warrick, unfortunately) So I have mixed feelings, it all depends on what the hell is wrong or not wrong with Warrick I guess. schweinhart
Clayton would be an excellent slot receiver to replace P-Dub. But Bengals could get a decent slot WR later in draft like Steve Savoy and use #17 for defense where help is needed most to improve playoff chances this year.Chad, Housh, and K-Dub work for me in 3 WR sets. HairOnFire
The rumor I keep bumping into lately has teams trading up to get Clayton. In fact, just today I listened to Kiper mock Carlos Rogers to the Bengals, an idea we've all heard before. However, when it came time for the Ravens pick at #22 he mentioned their strong interest in Clayton as well as their fears that he'll be gone before they pick. As I sat there doubting the idea that the Ravens would trade with the Bengals...Kiper claimed the Eagles were also very interested in moving up to draft Clayton. Kiper then put a bow on the whole package by stating that getting Clayton would likely dictate the Eagles move up to the #17 spot. As always, take it for whatever it might be worth. jjakq27
One thing I forgot to mention was that Hobson said that the Bengals feel good about Askew and Geathers because they both came out early last year. If they had stayed in school in 2004 they would probably be 1st or 2nd round material this year. They feel that having them learn for the majority of last season will help them this year and they expect both to be productive from the beginning of the year.
