7 Round Draft Guru Mock

That aside, Chris, which of the two is in your opinion the better run stopper: Pollack or James? Given the makeup of our division, while I like guys who can do both, I favor those who are run stoppers over those that are pass rushers.

I am genuinely interested in your opinion, tho it might seem I am expecting Pollack as the answer.

Oh, and let me add that both Jerry Jones and Dave Lapham both expressed grave concern over Erasmus' health situation, for now and for the perceived future.

I think both players are extremely stout at the point of attack. I actually give Erasmus James the edge over Pollack though when it comes to playing the run. Pollack is a monster, no doubt, and I would be glad to have him, but his size is a concern. Erasmus James has 38 inch arms, very hard to get leverage on a guy that can reach into your nightmares !!

* But seriously, looking at game film, both players were supported so well by their teammates that it's not a definitive answer as to who the better run stuffer is. James gives you the strength and leverage, and his game films show how well he is at scraping down the line of scrimmage. He did play next to guys like Anttaj Hawthorne and Jason Jefferson, so he was helped quite a bit.

** At the same time, Pollack, was engulfed at times by some of the really large SEC tackles, but because he's so relentless, he will still make a play.

One thing that Pollack does have going for him, is that he does have the ability to get bigger, but in '03 when he played at close to 290 lbs. he was noticeably limited, and less productive.

My final draft Grade

- Erasmus James grades out to be a 6.15 - a ranking given to players who should start right away, with Pro Bowl potential.

- David Pollack grades out to be a 6.24 - meaning he should develop into a player that starts right away, and has Pro Bowl potential.

- Draft Analysis, if these are our top 2 options at # 17, we should be able to trade down at least once and grab either.
