B24
Read in the Cincinnati Post that the Bengals were in talks with the Buccaneers to trade the first pick in the draft for Warren Sapp. Both teams have since denied the talks. While I wouldn't mind having a player like Sapp on the team, his cap hit would be way to big for the Bengals. He's due to get $6.6 million this season. Also his contract is up after this coming season.A trade like this would just be stupid. Thank god it's just a rumor. jbengals1
warren sapp as a bengal that would be great if cincinnati could afford it but from what i read the bengals have very little $$$ left and might have to cut alot of team members just to stay under the cap
kevnz
The bengals could always use a DT, but Sapp is on the downside of his career, and the last thing the Bengals need is another player that's past their prime(see Richmond Webb, Jeff Burris, Vaughn Booker) Also, it's not the Bengals that would take the salary cap hit, it's the Bucs. When you trade a player the signing bonus hit's you just like if you were to release them. Besides, the team went 2-14 last year, they need to cut some players. jbengals1
if the bengals were to get sapp he would be a great teacher for our up and coming team, he should have a few more years left in the NFL, but is'nt all this trade for sapp talk like counting your chickens before they hatch.........
