bengalboomer7
If you like like Joisey, read the article on NFL.com by pat Kirwin on incentives. Gues who one of the three teams that have a "balanced budget" are?
HairOnFire
Think about the team that has beat them in the playoffs two years in a row. That happens to be the same team that has won 3 out of the last 4 Super Bowls. True, but take a look around and you might notice that the perfectly balanced championship team...the one being held up as the perfect model for the Bengals to copy...doesn't even exist anymore. Not with both coordinators gone, the heart and soul of the defense felled by a stroke, key veterans lost to FA, and an offensive attack now tilting even more towards a recently traded for running game. So feel free to disagree, but I'll argue that those screwy unbalanced Colts are as good a model of a Super Bowl contender as any that still exists. Last, I've heard Tony Dungy state flatly that his team is deliberately built with the understanding that high salaries will largely be targeted offensively and the defense will be built with lesser pieces hopefully found by a coaching staff whose reputation is largely built around defensive expertise. Sound familiar?
