Section 310
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/football/215453_hawk11.htmlCheck out the link above. Both Seattle and Indy said they would acceptless than a 1st rounder for Shaun Alexander or Edgerrin James. This would appear to make it more and more likely Rudi will be playing underthe tag this season with no long term deal and no trade.I like Rudi, but I don't think you can put him in the same class withAlexander or James just yet. I would expect his trade value to be lowerthan those two, and the Bengals are not going to let him get away for a 3rd or 4th rounder. They also are not going to sign him to a Lamont Jordon type deal. This says to me that Rudi will be our starting tailback this season.
bengalboomer7
Agreed, and I wouldn't be supried if we spend all of the next offseason dicussing the Rudi debacle. Moron Mike at it again. Won't give up that money for nothing

Won't give up that money for nothing If he's not resigned to a long term deal by the start of this season, I wouldn't expect Rudi in stripes again. His FA value, if he has a season similar to 2004 will probably put him out of reach.
Section 310
Unless of course the Bengals tag him again....theycould end up playing the Orlando Pace game...tag em' year after year after year.
bengalboomer7
I don't think even the Bengals would let him go for nothing, you might see the same thing that the colts and seahawks are doing right now though
Kirkendall
Unless of course the Bengals tag him again....theycould end up playing the Orlando Pace game...tag em' year after year after year. Possibly. Wasn't Walter Jones tagged for 3-4 years in a row?
HoosierCat
If Rudi does indeed play under the franchise tender this season, and if Perry can stay healthy and shows any ability at all...I have the think they let Rudi walk next year vs. another 1-year $6-7 million deal. Whur CHad At?
Why is there something about Edgerrin James on the bengals website? from bengals.comThe Bengals hosted a visit Thursday and continued to scan the list of free-agent possibilities. Colts running back Edgerrin James, apparently on the trading block, hasn't had contact with the Bengals, according to agent Drew Rosenhaus. Packers safety Darren Sharper, released Thursday, has yet to be contacted by the club, according to agent Joel Segal.
turningpoint
because maybe they'd be willing to trade straight up....who knows...I'm sorry but I wish we could go back 1 week...We just un tagged rudi, and traded for Shaun Alexander with our 2nd round pick. HoosierCat
The latest from Hobson regarding Rudi...http://www.bengals.com/press/news.asp?iCur...=0&news_id=2795Bottom line: Rudi still "hopeful," for long-term deal, Bengals & his camp still talking, same old sal cap shtick, forget B. Robinson, E. Johnson, D. Sharper, no trade for J. Sharper...
Whur CHad At?
thought we were going to improve our D with some veterans, guess i was wrongi hope the bengals find out how stupid they are for passing on J. Sharper

SharperWell, per the piece, they don't want to cough up the draft pick and would rather wait until he's released...whereupon I'm sure we'll hear how they have no cap space to sign such an expensive FA... Whur CHad At?
this prob means goodbye mr. perry. It a shame, we never got to see his potential, he had a lot of it. Thought he was the future, but apparently not anymore.
HoosierCat
No reason to let Perry go. His cap hit is tiny and if he's healthy he can definitely contribute. All it means is the end of any hopes of pushing dollars over to the defensive side of the ball. This year it's Rudi. Next year it'll be the 60% of the o-line that are FAs. 2007? Well, maybe we can look at the defense then...
Whur CHad At?
having perry here would be pointless, there in no use for him here anymore. Speaking of Next Year, don't expect the Bengals to do much in FA.We have to re-sign:WillieLevi(maybe)Justin SmithSteinbachThat will be a lot of money

Because there are rumors that there could be a three way trade, involving the bengals, colts and bears, with the bengals getting Edge. Whur CHad At?
where did you see this rumorPLUS there won't be because we are going to re-sign rudi for way too much money. It would be a dumb trade as well, Edge to us, SA to the COlts, Or Rudi to the COlts, Rudi to the Seahawks, or SA to us. We would still have to sign either one of them to hefty contracts anyway and with Drew Rosenahus as Edge's agent, your talking for about $60-80 mill.
