Whur CHad At? Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Arturo Freeman is a rising star at the Safety spot. He is very good and young(28 years old). He could play either safety spot. Bengals should consider taking a look at this guy.Darren Sharper is one of the best safeties in the league. But he will be cut by March 12th. Bengals should look at him, because he would be a huge upgrade to our D. Our Secondary wouldn't be albe to be matched. He is getting up on the years though. Still worth one, two year contract. What do you all think, wait for the draft, or give a good look at these excellent veterans?? Quote
TippCityRick Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Depends on their respective price tags, but either would be an upgrade at safety. As far as our secondary not being able to be matched, I think the Ravens have everyone trumped at this point. Quote
Kirkendall Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 I'm not sure about Sharper being that great of an upgrade sacrificing PT for our youngsters, but I'd sign him for his veteran leadership and attitude alone! Quote

shworge Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 He is getting up on the years though. Still worth one, two year contract. Sharper is only 29. Still 5 good years left at the safety position. Quote

Other than Madaiu we three veterns two of which can't stay on the field due to injuries. Through the draft brother... I wouldn't pick up a veteran on the last leg of his career, or toe, in the hopes that they'll be our mainstay only to have the same issue arise after he retires. Like I said, I'd pick him on veteranship only, but not playing ability... I'd rather delegate that to the youngers -- through the draft. Sorry I was a little cryptic on that. Quote
TippCityRick Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 That makes a bit more sense to me. I'm not really in favor of picking up either of these players, but I am positive we aren't set at this position at this time. We will need an upgrade either in free agency or in the draft, and it appears there will be a few safeties available come draft day. Quote
Kirkendall Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 Darren Sharper to the Vikings. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor..._len&id=2011382 Quote
