jjakq27
Sunday, March 6, 2005 By Mark CurnutteEnquirer staff writerPATS PARADISE: The mild stroke that might end the football career of Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi wasn't the only offseason sign that New England's Super Bowl run might be fading fast. The Patriots cut Troy Brown. Guard Joe Andruzzi left for the Browns, and wide receiver Derrick Mason bypassed them to play for the Ravens. He'd rather have Kyle Boller throw to him than Tom Brady. There's more: The Pats cut cornerback Ty Law and released linebacker Roman Phifer, and there are reports that personnel genius Scott Pioli wants the Giants' general manager job once Ernie Accorsi retires.Offensive coordinator Charlie Weis left for the Notre Dame job, and defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel is Cleveland's new coach.Coach Bill Belichick refused to comment on anything when he showed up at a downtown Boston theater for the unveiling of the DVD about the team's Super Bowl championship. HoosierCat
The Pats did do the Starks trade, so that's a plus for them But to this point, I think it's a close call between the Pats and the Packers as to who's had the worst FA period. Of course, there's still a ways to go, and if the Pats get their shizz together they could fill in a lot of these holes: Plexiglass is still available, Hartwell would be a solid answer if Bruschi can't come back, etc. We'll see. not-another
I think this is the fall of the Pats. That big "dynasty" they had built.
HoosierCat
I think this is the fall of the Pats. That big "dynasty" they had built. Dunno if I'd go that far...at least not yet. Look at the other teams in the AFCE: the Fins are a mess, the Bills' starting QB will either be an untested rook or a Browns reject, and The Jets have lost Jordan, McKenzie and Ferguson (and likely will lose Becht). Even if the Pats' losses are enough to cause them to slip from elite to just good, they should still tower over the division. So at this point you have to still have them pencilled in for the playoffs, and once you get into the postseason, anything can happen. BengalNation1281
I think that this will be the year that it ends for the Pats. They will still be among the elite in the AFC, but there are too many teams who look to be getting better for them to remain "the" team in the AFC, especially after losing that many players and personnel. So look for CD to be giving excuses on how we couldn't beat them in their prime and how we only beat the leftovers from the SB team when we kick their asses in the playoffs.and not-another, you have a very nice posterior. I see why you decided to display it prominently on your sig.
bengalboomer7
They'll have a tough season this year, maybe like they did after their first Super Bowl when they wnt 9-7, but Joisey is right that's just about enough to win that division. I agree with BengalNation, and to add a compliment, theres a little bit of Kate Hudson look in your face Very nice not another
