jjakq27
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/3411212Packers designate Franks as transition player GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - The Green Bay Packers designated three-time Pro Bowl tight end Bubba Franks as their transition player on Monday. The Packers can try to negotiate a long-term deal with Franks. Until a deal is reached, Franks will receive a one-year contract at a tender rate set by the NFL for tight ends. The Packers will have right of first refusal to match any offer Franks receives. Franks, Green Bay's top pick in the 2000 draft, is tied with Mark Chmura for third place in franchise history for career receptions with 188. shworge
Just read on ESPN that Marcus Pollard is expected to be cut. If he is, I would love to see him in a Bengals uniform.
HoosierCat
Anthony Becht would still be my first choice. Good blocker, good hands, he's got a bit of an underachiever label thanks to an off-year in 2004. He be on my short list of FAs to call on March 1. jditty47
franks is better than both of them.
bengalsfan33
Let's just do the right thing and draft Heath Miller with the first round pick. But I'd love to try and pickup Becht if we can't draft Miller....
schweinhart
I believe Franks back-up David Martin is a UFA and he'd be a vast improvement over the sh*tpile the Bengals got at TE right now.
jditty47
f**k that. either draft a 1-2 at TE and get rid of the s**tpile we have or get a top TE FA like franks but do not, DO NOT add to the s**tpile by adding backups from other teams. BengalNation1281
WE DON'T NEED TO DRAFT OFFENSE IN THE FIRST ROUND.Franks or Pollard would add more depth to our receiving corps immediately and we wouldn't have to wait for a rookie TE to develop.I think Bubba Franks would be an awesome addition to our team, and I hope that they legitimately pursue him. Naw man...let's have a great big giant sh#tpile at TE Seriously, there's a few backup UFA TEs and even some TEs who will be undrafted rookie free agents who would be an instant upgrade over Reggie Kelly. If it's a TE of the future who is situationally versatile enough not to tip the playcalling and catch 40 to 50 balls, then this ain't the year to be looking other than Bubba or Alex Smith. On the other hand, there's Jermaine Wiggins, who plays for a different team every year and at least goes to the playoffs if not the Super Bowl. Whur CHad At?
Bubba Franks would cost to much, and the Bengals only go after the cheapies
bengalsfan33
Well, I know I said we should go for Heath Miller in the first round, well, I'm changing my mind. After signing Housh, our offense has to be complete except at the TE position. I'm with Joisey here, lets see if we can't make a run for Becht, because we can get him for cheap, and he should be a great addition to our offense...
