KYBENGALFAN
Hey, if Rudi and the Bengals cannot come to terms on a long term deal, do you think the Bengals will make a run at Shaun Alexander, who might be leaving the Seahawks. I'd say Shaun, from nearby Florence, KY, might be a good fit for the Bengals. What do ya all think?? :player:
skyline
I'd much rather have Alexander, but it's not going to happen.
walzav29
There is zero chance that Alexander will be here. They drafted Perry for a reason. There is no doubt that they need to focus their energy on the defensive line.
jditty47
unfortunately i do not think we'll get him or even make a run for him. if we dont resign rudi we wont sign another top back.
DontPushMe
We have someone better then both Rudi and Alexander on our roster right now, why we would sign either of them is beyond me.

Kirkendall
This discussion is finished. Rudi being tagged pretty much shut the possibility to an Alexander return home.
turningpoint
Anyways kinda annoying were paying Rudi the same we could be paying Alexander....I seriously wish we could make a trade for him.
ShulaSteakhouse
Anyways kinda annoying were paying Rudi the same we could be paying Alexander....I seriously wish we could make a trade for him.\\Welcome to the NFL Bengals' fans! Where players who produce get paid, and this is Cincinnati and we are not at the point, if ever, that players will play here at a reduced rate "just to be a Bengal." Let's not forget they haven't had a winning season in 14 years either. The Bengals have to over-pay some people in order to keep good, proven players here and prove to the union they are serious about winning, even if we don't like it necessarily. The Bengals' have had one of the best offenses (most of the time) in the NFL the last two years with Rudi as a feature back and there's no reason to change everything now when all of these guys are young and in their prime years.Have patience and in time the cap sacrifices they make now will benefit them down the road and we'll all be better off for it as fans as well. After winning 16 games in two years Marvin has the clout and the back-up to make his case for what he wants/needs and Brown will have to give-in to it. Rudi barely produces. Look at my post under the "why did you draft perry" topic.2. Rudi Johnson had nothing to do with our offense over the past few years. Our offense being so good is because of Chad Johnson. Rudi is benefiting from the attention other teams pay to chad. Rudi himself had nothing to do with it. Just want to remind you the truth: Rudi broke more tackles than any other RB in NFL last season and broke Bengal single season rushing record. I don't know why some fans here hate Rudi so much, I thought he is a favorite among quite a lot of bengal fans.Rudi could be the best running back Bengals ever had. He could have 2000+ yard season with a healthy offensive line and an experienced QB in the near future. While at Auburn, Rudi made a bad decision to enter pro in his junior year. He skipped to 4th round pick which surprised a lot of people. If he stayed one more year, he could easily be a first rounder. Rudi was player of the year in SEC, and Shaun Alexander was player of the year in the previous year. I see both of them with equal quality as great running backs with some shortcomings. Shaun is a powerful and blast back with more speed, but he is afraid of big hit and inconsistent. Rudi is more skillful, consistent, not afraid of contact, but his speed is not as fast as Shaun. I am confident that bengals will have a winning season this year if Rudi stays. Hope front office can work a long time deal with him and keep him in Cincinnati. I consider Chris Perry to be better then Rudi (way better actuall), and i think when he finally gets on the feild and gets all the carries, he will be better then Alexander. Now how is that negative? wookie
I'm a fan of Rudi's, I just think that there are things missing from his game that would make him a better all-around back. If Alexander were available I'd take him in a heart-beat. He missed the NFL rushing title by a yard, he is faster, and a better reciever. If the Bengals O-line can play well enough to get Rudi 1400 then imagine having a back that can make something happen when the O-line can't open a hole. Its a moot point right now since Rudi was tagged, but lets not pretend that a player like Alexander wouldn't have been an upgrade. I think Rudi is a great back, and he's had a great attitude since becoming a Bengal. I don't think he'll go down as the best Bengals running back ever(Dillon was better, and he was on teams with less talent), and I don't think that he'll hit 2000+ yds unles the O-line has a monster year and the Browns D gives up 300 yard games both times he plays them. I'd like to see Rudi work on improving his vision on the field, improvising when the hole isn't there, and pass catching(although if Perry can get on the field and stay healthy they won't need him to catch better). I think the Bengals could have been more productive this year had Rudi been able to improvise a little. The Redzone/Goaline stops last year were frustrating.Who knows, maybe Perry will come through and we could have a really dangerous back-field. That would be the best, but either way the Bengals shouldn't let Rudi play this year on the Franchise contract, they should sign him long-term. He has not been reliable down the stretch and has not been able to milk the clock like dillon could. We have to keep passing and passing because of his inability to get 2 and 4 or so. Hopefully if we do keep him he will improve and mb start being like his idol bettis and stop being like his mirror image in dayne.
