walzav29
I know this is biased because I'm a Bengal fan, but I think the Bengal's will be the team to challenge the Pat's. You could tell after the game this year that Belichek was sincere when calling the Bengals "explosive". With Palmer establishing himself , and the defensive improvments that will blossom next year the Bengal's will be the team to knock the Patriots out. Marvin has set up a situation where being average is not acceptable. He is building a dynasty type team. Enough of this season, let's start looking at kickoff 2005! bengalboomer7
When did he say that?
walzav29
He said that after they played. He said they knew how explosive they were from the preseason game.
bengalboomer7
Oh Ok, I knew about that, i was hoping maybe he said that in a post Super Bowl interview or something. A little bit of Bengal talk on the night of the Super Bowl, that would have been a compliment
jjakq27
Yeah, but we no longer have the greatest Bengal ever. He retired in 1992.

HairOnFire
I caught an interview with Marvin Lewis and Jon Gruden prior to the SuperBowl and during the questioning the point was made that, based upon the preseason and regular season contests, the Bengals were the team that best demonstrated an ability to consistently move the ball and score points against the Patriots. Marvin first rolled his eyes at the claim, but went on to claim that their Patriot gameplan was based almost entirely upon showing very late offensive movement that dictated even later defensive adjustments. Frankly, I didn't make too much out of the remark as it seemed pretty generic. If anything, it gave me even greater appreciation for Palmers early career game management skills. BengalszoneBilly
There should be some animosity brewing especially since we seem to play them tougher than most teams do. I still relish the a**-kicking we applied to them in preseason! Yeah, I know the game didn't count, but the look on Corey's face after getting SHUT DOWN IN CINCINNATI was priceless! The defense made their point known.Pushy probably don't remember that game, do ya?
Beaker
Pushy probably don't remember that game, do ya? He remembers. He finally got to give Leon that postgame hummer he'd been wet dreaming about.

BengalszoneBilly
Thanks jjakq. That's the very picture I was speaking of. I've seen the same look watching "Animal Planet" on the face of an African Wilderbeast just as it's being overwhealmed and turned into lunch by a pride of lions!
