Stillers or Corey?

Reading the "Corey Dillion, Cry Baby" topic, I was struck with this. Who we rootin' for this weekend?

Choice 1 - A hated division rival.

Choice 2 - A hated former franchise player.

Personally I can't have Dillon in the Super Bowl. I just CAN'T!! If I have to listen to one more segment on how Dillon's career was wasted in Cincy and how the Patriots ripped off the Bengals to get him, I may go through the screen!!!

When Dillon came into the league the Patriots were a second tier team. If he had gone there then, the Patriots would not be where they are now (or at least he wouldn't still be there celebrating the success). And the Bengals were not fleeced. They picked up an excellent safety in the draft and still had a back break queen Corey's yardage record.

Dillon is a great back, but not a great team player. Trust me. Eventually things will go downhill and his true nature will reappear.

If the Patriots get back next year and he's there, I'll be ok with him going to the ultimate game. Just not this year. Besides, next year he'll have to come through Cincy to get there!!!!!!!!

Wow, turningpoint is rooting for Dillon. I'm shocked. :o

Steelers. AFC North Represent!

Better a tough division rival than a loudmouth who will use his opportunity to play in the Bowl as an excuse to trash the Bengals.

Agreed. Imagine the hours of pre-game hype we'd have to endure about how much better off Leon is now, and what a great guy he is with the Pats. No thanks. I'd much rather see features about Roethlisburger...as much as I hate the squealers.

I dunno which is worse.

Talk about the lesser of two evils.

PUt it this way, I don't know any Patriots fans.

If the Steelers go to the Super Bowl, sigh. I don't think I'll (or you guys on this board for that matter) ever hear the end of this one.

I'm hoping for a Steelers v. Falcons matchup...won by the ATL...

That way I don't have to endure Leon stories for 2 weeks, and no Steeler fans screaming "Dynasty" if they won the whole thing. Then maybe I could see a little more of those Mike Vick experience commercials... :player:

Yeah, my picks before the playoffs started were the Colts and Falcons in the Stuper Bowl.

I still think the Falcons are gonna win and Eagles fans everywhere will commit mass murder followed with suicide.

(Stay inside for a few days guys)

Yeah, but I can handle other fans. The last thing I want to do is give Corey more ammunition to bash Cincinnati. It would just be so sweet for him to go to a Superbowl "dynasty" and manage to still not win. Then next year, we can beat them in the playoffs.

This would work for me:

Corey fumbles at the 1 yd line with the Steelers up 3-0 with :30 left and the Steelers take a knee to win it.

Steelers the get pounded by ATL (because PHI choked again, no SB for TO) in the Super Bowl

Corey suffers a season ending injury in preseason next yr, NE barely makes playoffs and loses in the 1st round to IND (Manning breaks the jinx)

The following yr Corey is too old, has lost a step, and gets cut...is picked up to finish out his career in ARZ....Pats re-group and win SB w/o him...he never gets to play in a SB.

I dont ask the football Gods for much.

Steelers - the 1 and only resan is to see CD get so close to his dream and have myself watch it be shattered

I'm a big enough man to admit that I'm that petty, too. Go ABLT (Anybody But Leon's Team)!

Side note: it's been noted that the Pats were without Leon in their first loss to the Steelers, and given that they only had 5 yards rushing I suppose that one must expect his return to provide a boost! However, it's worth noting that you have to go back to 2001 to find Leon having a good game vs. the Steelers, and to 2000 to find one where he broke 100 yards. In the last year he was healthy (2002) had 57 and 60 yards in two games versus Pitt.

Overall, setting aside his injury/shared with Rudi games last year and one backing up Ki-Jana in 1997, Dillon's had 10 "healthy" games v. Pitt:

1997: 78

1998: 99, (out)

1999: 78, 120

2000: 36, 128

2001: 64, 91

2002: 57, 60

Which works out to about 81 yards a game on average, with his best games mostly in the early part of his career. Last year, he was 26 (on 7 carries) and 48 (on 10) vs. Pitt. So it'll be interesting to see how much he has left this weeked...

pats will win for sure. big ben is a joke and he has been exposed for what, 6 weeks now? bye bye steelers u wont fluke into a win vs the champs, especially with a determined dillon on the field and a SB mvp at the helm.

and screw everyones reasoning that i hope the steelers make it so our division looks tougher. thats bulls**t. f**k that. if we cant win it, f**k the rest. no chance in hell will i ever root for the ravens, the browns, or the steelers in a game that doesnt improve our chances to make the playoffs.

Who the f**k cares, this is all gonna change in 1 season, when they're talking about us in the AFC championship game. :player:

I can't root for either team. I'll never root for the steelers in anything, my bengal loyalty would not allow it. I also can never root for the patsied because of Leon and the fact that Brady is a UM grad. Unless you're on the bengals I never root for michigan guys.

See i'm the opposite I'm an U of M fan, and hate OSU probably due to the fact, there's people that still would get a bonner over watching the 2001 rose bowl.
