ckj414
Like I said in the title, that's where I hang out most of the time, there are a lot of good fans over there who would be interested in discussion with opposing fans. There's just one Bengal fan (crouchingbengal or something like that) over there now that I know of, and he isn't exactly the best representative of you guys. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, if you know what I mean ...

Bobcat Bengal
I'm taking the liberty to speak for everyone here:After THAT devastating loss we took last week, no one feels, or is even in the position to, talk ANY type of smack whatsoever. kybengalsfan
I agree with your statements, wholeheartedly, Terry. It was bad enough freezing our tails off Sunday, but our guys looked like they wanted to be inside. I hope I never see another game played so pitiful, in front of the home crowd, with so much on the line. We choked again. Bengal fans will be mighty upset if they come out with a lackluster performance against the Giants, whose defense doesn't even rank, I believe. I think back to pre-season when people on this site would pontificate about how the Bengals would win our division, and Pittsburg would be 6-10 or 7-9. Where are these guys now? jjakq27
Giants smack: I was listening to Jim Rome today and he had a lady that was talking about Emily Manning and how she isn't that bad. And she was serious!
TubThumper
how 2 losing teams' fans can smack talk this time of year is beyond me but....LOL...since when does that stop anyone? It stops sophisticated fans. There's no smack to talk. What's most important now is to start fixing the problems. If that results in beating the Giants, that's a nice thing for the players and staff in particular. Champions play against goals and standards not opponents. Talking smack is a fun release when you're meeting those goals and standards, but when you're not, there's nothing to talk about.
ckj414
Giants smack: I was listening to Jim Rome today and he had a lady that was talking about Emily Manningand how she isn't that bad. And she was serious! You know what, I know there is going to be a lot of fan resentment towards Eli Manning, the same way there was with John Elway, and I really can't justify getting all bent out of shape trying to defend him - I totally understand the way most NFL fans feel. But I also understand why Eli made his choice - Marty Friggin Schottenheimer himself told the Mannings that San Diego was not a good environment to play in. When the head coach of a team says, 'hey, this organization is lousy, don't come here', I think if I were in that situation and had any leverage to make that decision for myself, I'd probably make the same choice that Eli did. And I'm not sure that any of us could say differently. Thats my two cents on the matter, I won't touch it again...commence with the ShEli jokes! I know what you mean though. I thought this game would have playoff implications for at least one of the teams when I saw it on the schedule at the start of the season, more likely the Bengals, but then when the Giants got off to a 5-2 start I had high hopes for them too. Injuries, injuries, injuries, you know how that goes. Now there is nothing to really talk smack about. Both teams suck!

Wore my Bengals sweatshirt to work and then out on the road. I was surprised, cause a lot of the guys said " I knew you'd wear that anyway. " " So na so said you'd leave it in the drawer, but I said No not him. He'll be wearing it anyway."We Bengals fans are a hard headed lot. .... It's the difference between being a knowledgeable fan vs the typical mouthbreather whose vocabulary consists of " Yur teem sucks " etc. etc. That's usually the level of trolls that we get around here. Plus as was noted, after allowing the bills to come in here and walk and go through a practice session, not a lot of the guys feel like talking smack ..... that at this point in the year is even more meaningless than usual. jjakq27
No offense to Eli, but Ben R. should have been the first QB taken in the draft. I think the hype of the Manning name and the fact that Ben played in a mid-major conference were the key factors there. Maybe I am a little biased since I got to see Ben play and he got alot of local exposure but he is heads above Eli and Phillip Rivers. In fact I think before the first Steelers game, Marvin had a quote about if Ben had been available last year it would have been hard to pick between Palmer and Ben. BengalszoneBilly
I don't think I ever said Cincinnati would win the division. You didn't have to. I took care of that "statement of stupidity" for you. Do you see what heavy Bourbon drinkin' does to your brain kids!?! Don't you youngsters here screw up like I did with booze. If you're gonna party, leave the alcohol ALONE! Go score some of the "Chronic" instead...you won't be able to freakin' talk, much less make silly football predictions as I did! ****I'M JUST KIDDING PEOPLE!!!****Nobody go all Nancy Reagan on me here. I'm just jokin' kids...remember, illegal street drugs are worse than legal ones because uh...well, er...well because they're ILLEGAL, AND THE GOVERMENT CAN'T EFFECTIVELY TAX THEM ALL, DAMMIT! I was one of those who thought Pittsburgh was on the outs. Man, was I off with that one! Like you were the Lone Ranger on this? I remember all the threads from June and July with all the forecasts and bold predictions of who was going to finish where this season, and I honestly cannot remember even ONE member here who picked the Steelers to win the AFC North Division! The way I recollect, the majorities concensus was pretty much agreed that it would either be the Ravens our Bengals winning the division, with Cleveland and Pittsburg fighting each other to stay out of the cellar. At least we were half right with Cleveland, but you gotta admit that part of the pick was a gimme! In the future I'm going to try and refrain from such forecasting and predictions of ANY type! You could be right....although at the time of the draft Eli was the concensus top QB, I'm not sure that he was so much better than Roethlisberger/Rivers that he was worth all the Giants paid to get him. I actually was very much against the trade at the time, still am, but whats done is done. And then there were many who said Big Ben and Rivers to a lesser extent were actually better than Eli. It will take more than a couple seasons to know who was right. Roethlisberger has been so impressive this season, but then after watching a couple Pittsburgh games I'm convinced that most any decent QB would put up similar numbers - The Steelers are so good right now its hard to get a read on just how developed Roethlisberger truly is. Conversely, until the last couple weeks, the Giants OL had been abyssmal, and their WRs are still not getting open - so in fairness, just what kind of numbers would you expect a rookie QB to put up in that situation? So who knows, it will really take a couple years to figure this all out...until then, all the arm chair GMing is just in fun...

I love making wild ass predictions, the 1% of the time I'm right makes it all worth it ...I'm going out on a limb here and am going to say that next season the AFC North will be a pretty tough division. Bengals should be improved, Ravens could be improved, and a team as good as Pittsburgh is right now won't just fall off the face of the earth. And each of them will have two gimme wins a season thanks to the ineptitude of the Browns...

Maddox got hurt in the second game. Ben finished that one and played in a monsoon in Miami in the third game and played well under the conditions. The Bengals game was next. Cincinnati had scored on the opening drive of the second half but didn't do much after that. I think the Steelers pounded the ball pretty good in the second half and then got the PI on James in the endzone to take the lead for good.If we win that one we would have been tied with the Steelers at 2-2.
