comstock
sorry fixed the links...my favorite is the charlie brown one which was published the opening sunday of 03, of course ironically for once, for the first time in 14 years we had a decent season and a shot at the playoffs.this time the ball isn't yanked out and the bengals don't fall on their faces
jjakq27
My favorite is Dick LeBeau in 2002 sitting in the top row at Cinergy as the rest of the stadium begins to collapse. He is on the phone and the caption say "I've been waiting for your call Mr. Brown."
jjakq27
For the good old day of 1988.....
comstock
I remember those 1988 patches (more like a sticker but not plastic), in fact it was an item required for randy miller's Q102 scavenger hunt some 10 years later (I still had mine at the time, have to dig that up again)1988 was the last real season for the bengals, I remember the only game I made it to was the redskins game and we were behind the goal posts when chip lohmiller shanked the short field goal off the upright and it (somehow) bounced out and not in, we went on to win in OT of course and secured the division win and home field for the playoffs, where we took down the bills and seahawks......ahhh the good ole days I think I still have my tape they sold of the team's song that year, it was like "we run it up the middle we pass it down the line..." blah blah I forget the rest.Esiason to brown, throw in brooks and woods. That was also the year we scored like 63 on the defunct Oilers.
jjakq27
The song was the WhoDey Rap by Mike Martin and some of the guys like Solomon Wilcots, Ickey Woods, Eric Thomas and Stanley Wilson. The Bengals beat Glanville and Co. 61-7. I think it 28-0 in the first quarter. Sam was pissed because he thought the Oilers ran up the score in an earlier meeting. Those were the days......... comstock
remember the snow game at the end of the year where they were throwing snowballs on the field/players, wyche gets on the stadium PA in the MIDDLE of the game and gives the famous rant, ending in him yelling, "You don't live in cleveland you live in cincinnati"that was something else
jjakq27
One of the all time greats lines! I miss Sam.....
comstock
sam was great. 88 WAS the dream season, it was 99.9% perfection. and we played in what was arguably one of the best super bowls of all time, if not the best ever. just a tragic ending.have to get that on tape and rewatch the entire thing.things IMMEDIATELY tanked though, and I never was happy about esiason not ending his NFL career here. oh well, good times are back. We were having a Super Bowl party at our house (the year the Ravens won-2000?) and people weren't going to going to be over until 6pm. So I had a few hours to kill, so I got to watch it.Several things jumped out at me. Many details that I had forgotten.First, how much the on-screen graphics and replays had improved and changed since then.Second, Ickey Woods had over 80 yards rushing. Boomer wasn't having a great game but they should have run Ickey more in the second half to eat up the clock and possibly scored a TD instead of a FG. Their O-Line was dominant that year and they should have worn down the smaller 49ers.Third was the INT-drop by Billups. Somehow I had remembered it as he dropped the ball before Taylor's TD. But the drop was actually before Rice's TD at the end of the third quarter. The score was 13-6 before Rice scored. On the next drive the Bengals kicked a FG to make it 16-13. Had he made the INT, it would have been 16-6. Then SF scored to make it 20-16 to win the game.Lastly, I think the Niners started the final drive at the 8 yard line. I also think that Montana was sacked at some point before they crossed midfield.Oh, what might have been.

richmond_mat
For the good old day of 1988..... I just read today an amazing Boomer stat for 1988. Boomer had an eye popping 9.2 yards per PASS. For the entire season. It ranks in the top five all time. If he'd won the superbowl that year, he'd be a lock for the Hall. BengalszoneBilly
and we played in what was arguably one of the best super bowls of all time, if not the best ever. just a tragic ending. It WAS one of the top three Super Bowls EVER played. Had Montana's pass not been dropped, and Cincy have won...THEN it would have been the best! :player:
Bengalsfanpep
I like the Marvin Lewis revival one
