Kirkendall
Not Butch, but Ron of the Patriot Ledger. Again, from this perspective, we got screwed. Personally, I'm leaning that way lately...http://ledger.southofboston.com/articles/2...ts/sports02.txt
schweinhart
Bengals had no choice but to get best offer for him. Madieu was worth it IMO.It's still all about Leon -- he's shouldering the load to get his value up. I question whether he could really care less about winning. His team concept will shine through in due time.Still, he's a great runner putting up top flights #'s this year. Great deal for Pats in short term at very least. turningpoint
it won't look this way in 7 years when dillon is done with football and Madieu has gone to his 4th probowl.

membengal
Against all odds Dillon has shut up and is playing good football. Nothing about his ability to run surprises any of us who are Bengals fans...no question he was a talented son of a bitch when he was here. But anyone writing about this now outside of Cincy cannot begin to comprehend how tired his act had gotten here. And I blame all of that on Corey. All of it. He was the one pulling against Marvin last year and it blew. So he had to go. They turned his exit into Madieu Williams. That's one for ML and the scouts. Considering that in the past we have lost such disgruntled players for nothing, we did just fine on this.
The_Next_Big_Thing
The article doesn't even DISCUSS Cincinnati's move with the pick, we made out great getting rid of an aging asshat and picking up a young superstar in the making. Tampa Bengal
Asshat. Thats great I'm gonna have to use that term. But your right I don't think people really know the real Dillon but give him time to show his true colors. The Brew Man
Sure, Corey was an ass here and was fed up with losing. He made some very dumb decisions as a result. However, that doesnt change how good the man is, and with the NE supporting cast he is showing it. I too, am happy with Madieu however, I think its way too early to tell who got the better of this one.
cincykent
i sure am glad we got Madieu with that pick or I'd be very bitter about that trade. In this day and age of free agency, it really doesn't matter. We lose some players and we pick up others. I have been very impressed with the defense the last few weeks. If they have another productive off-season they should be a playoff team next year.
redsfan2
When this deal went down, everybody thought we got a windfall with a second round pick. Remember that prior to that, we were looking at offers of a 3rd or 4th from the Broncos and the Raiders because they both thought we would cut Dillon and get nothing. As to his talents ???? That's really beside the point because he was not going to play here. He proved that in his last games when he was healthy and still not doing squat. If he had stayed, the only thing he would have ran would have been his mouth. Better to move him and get the 2nd rounder that everybody was ecstatic about than to keep him and have a cancer in the locker room and a dead horse on the field. He's having a good year ( so far ) for the Pats. He's also had an injury already that kept him out of a few games. If they use him right, he may even still be decent next year too ... but it's really all down hill from there. Winner in this deal is both sides. Pats got the help they needed this year, and we got an extra pick that we needed ( and got a decent player with a lot of upside ) and as a bonus, we got rid of an Asshat ( ? ) ... which we didn't need. Said it before, and I'll say it again ... dillon doesn't live here anymore and if he gets a thousand yards or a case of the clap it's all the same to me. bengalsfan33
This is what Dillon wanted, so he got what he wanted. Even though we are weak at RB, atleast we don't have to worry about listening to him about not getting enough carries...
cdnbengals_fan
When I heard about this trade first happening, I thought..wow the Bengals just got screwed. Sure Cory wanted out (I didn't know the full story at the time or if he REALLY wanted out, but after reading about it, its obvious), but I thought they could get more for him...But if you look now, Madieu Williams is a great player. I never would have thought Cincinnati would have got a player like that outta the results they first got from the Dillon trade. Now, the trade isnt as one sided at all as the article states, without even mention of what Cincy got/the Bengals side of it. Dillion is a hell of a player, but the Bengals didnt get screwed like people thought they would have earlier, I think we got pretty good in return, but of course gave up a lot. Thats the way it works sometimes though, Dillon's gone but we got a young, great player as well instead.
Barbarian
The article doesn't even DISCUSS Cincinnati's move with the pick, we made out great getting rid of an aging asshat and picking up a young superstar in the making. Why would the article talk about things from a Cincinnati viewpoint???????????? Hey moron, the paper is from BOSTON!!!!!!!!!And another thing:we made out great getting rid of an aging asshat and picking up a young superstar in the making.Yep, keep on telling yourself that--while Williams is sitting on the couch in January watching Corey get his first ring--and go to the Pro Bowl.Clearly a 2nd rounder for CD seemed good at the time, but IT OBVIOUSLY WASN'T ENOUGH FOR THAT KIND OF TALENT. Corey is making the Patties THAT MUCH BETTER. He was definitely worth a couple of 1st rounders. You guys can shoot insults about the guy's attitude while in his last year at Cincy, however, he hasn't done s**t SINCE. He's kept his mouth shut and played good football this year.Cincinnati had plenty of chances to keep this guy happy. So once again, THE BUNGLES BLEW IT. Did you just removeyour head from your butt to type this post or what ? He was drafted in the 2nd round. jditty47
well u know barb will find something to bitch about next offseason. No matter how good we do in FA, do good in the draft (even if we fix up the DL), and even if its marvins 3rd year in his 3 yr plan. Barb always finds the negative in everything. He is the tail to every coin. He always shows the opposite side that everyone was thinking. Half the time i think he means it, but the other half i think he thinks it but doesnt want it to happen or be true. Just never know which half with him. I find it ironic that you say Jerome Bettis is "on his last leg"in another posts. But you praise Corey Dillon. Ecspecially since Bettis is ONLY 2 YEARS OLDER than Dillon. # 36 Jerome Bettis Position: RBHeight: 5-11Weight: 255Born: 02/16/1972College: Notre DameNFL Experience: 12 # 28 Corey Dillon Position: RBHeight: 6-1Weight: 225Born: 10/24/1974College: WashingtonNFL Experience: 8 But yeah I agree that the Bengals should have gotten more than thesame round draft pick that they used to get him in 1997 ! Ecspecially seeing how he was on a team that was playing meaningful gamesin December for the first time in his career and all he could do was bitch andwhine like a little girl that didn`t get her Barbie for Christmas. Then he goes on to throw his equipment in the stands and not even say ANYTHING to the players that had played with, bleed for and fought for him to get the yards that he did. Then to top it off he goes on National TV and blast every1 in the franchise from the paperboy to the owner. Yeah wow the Bengals were sure screwed to only get the same round pickfor a douchbag that they spent on him in the first place. You`re a moron.Sorry to any morons that were born that way. You contradicted yourself in the 1st 3 seconds of reading it.Anyways, if you would have been paying attention last year, you would have known that Dillon was pissed off about losing his position to a lesser player.ONE THING FOR SURE, dude--MARVIN MADE A SERIOUS COACHING MISTAKE WHEN HE DID THAT. COREY SHOULD HAVE BEEN PUT BACK INTO THE LINEUP RIGHT AFTER HE WAS CLEARED BY TEAM "DOCTORS". But no, Lewis wanted to f**k with his lineup a little by going with Rudi. Especially after Rudi had 3 consecutive 150+ yard games.Needless to say, that pissed Corey Dillon off. I would have been pissed off too.YOU DON'T LOSE YOUR JOB TO AN INJURY, BRA.Then you go onto this argument:Ecspecially since Bettis is ONLY 2 YEARS OLDER than Dillon. That's correct, however Bettis has 1191 more carries than Dillon!!!!!! And given the kind of Offensive Ball the Squeelers play, Bettis has seen wayyyyyy more action than Dillon. Bettis has taken a beating. Bill Cowher knows this--that's why he was trying to transition in Duce Staley into the starting role and making Bettis the backup/short yardage back.See Old Wooler, you should probably look a little more into the stats you post, bra. They support my arguments.
