Bobcat Bengal
Whatever your view about the QB situation is....THIS IS DEFINITELY A GROWING PAIN SEASON, that's for sure.I've seen Palmer botch 3 or 4 games this year on crucial two minute drills, and the exact same thing happen last year with Kitna.what's your point? JPW
Whatever your view about the QB situation is....THIS IS DEFINITELY A GROWING PAIN SEASON, that's for sure.I've seen Palmer botch 3 or 4 games this year on crucial two minute drills, and the exact same thing happen last year with Kitna.what's your point?Yes it is a Growing Pain Season...But let's see Palmer "BOTCHED" 3 or 4 games this year on crucial two minute drills.1) The Jets...Yep Palmer threw the INT....But ya know what, he was trying to lead a 4th quarter come back from from being down 31-17.He had Already lead one Spectacular 4th quarter TD Drive. And he had Another Drive going....He had Moved the Team from their own 5 yard line to the 49 when he throw the INT. On the two drives he was 4-5 for 118 yards and the 1 TD before he threw the pick.Yea if Only he had seen the safety coming across, and would have put a little more air under the ball, it Could have been 5-6 for 169 yards and 2 TDs on those two drives. But WTF is that the "Expected" thing ?I mean is it "The Norm" to put together Two Spectacular TD Drives in the last few minutes of a game ?And if you make a mistake, well you are the one who Botched the game ?2) The Miami game...People seem to Forget this one.Score 13-13, 1:53 left in the game, the ball on their own 20 and the announcers are openly talking about the Bengals best Hope is to be able to run the clock out and take the game to OT.Palmer comes out, and as cool as can be, drives the team down for the winning score.3) The 1st Steelers game...We had the Ball and enough time, Palmer throws it away killing any chance.4) The Titans....The Palmer fumble was sure a hard way to end the game. But once again, Palmer wasn't just Handed the Ball at the 9 yard line, he lead the Drive to get us down there in the first place. And the fact of the matter is that he didn't just mess around and fumble the ball.Steinbach got Beat Bad on the play and his man was Free and came at Palmer from his Blind side and Stripped the Ball.5) The 2nd Steelers game....See the 1st Steelers game, Palmer fails to get anything going at all.No one was more disappointed with losing those games than I was.But come on, since when do we have a right to "Expect" a last second Score to pull a game out ?Even Elway Failed at it more often than not....Palmer Played a Damn Good Game against the Jets...IF he Would have pull off TWO TD Drives in the last few minutes and then had gone on to Win it in OT, it would have been the Most Spectacular first Game of any QB ever in the NFL.Palmer did put together a 2 minute Drive to Win the Miami Game. Why is it that no one seems to remember that ?Palmer didn't get anything going for a last minute drive in either of the Steeler games. And that sucks....There is no way in Hell that he should have been back in the End Zone in the last game. The ONE thing that you don't do it that situation is back up, that Was a dumb mistake. But you are kidding yourself if you think that "botched" the game.Getting the ball with a 1-10 from your own 9 yard line is not what you would call a "Golden Opportunity" to start with.BTW does anybody else question the wisdom of "fair catching" the ball inside the 10 yard line ?But even if Palmer avoids the Safety on that play we would have been looking at a 3-11 from the 8 yard line giving us one more play.We would have had one more chance but it would have been a very small chance. The same is true of the Titans game....I still don't know why the clock wasn't stopped on the pass to CJ, it sure looked like he was out of bounds before he was touched. But it wasn't, and instead of having 1 st down and 49 seconds it was 2nd down and 35 seconds on the play where Palmer fumbled. So even If Palmer was able to get the ball Tucked back in, between it being Stripped and him being tackled, at most we would have one more shot.Unlike the Steeler game that one shot would have had a Fair Chance of being a TD and a Tie Game. And even if we didn't score, it would have been a better way to end the game.In any case I do not put the Fumble All on Palmer, I put it at least as much on Steinbach.Palmer didn't even know that Haynesworth was Behind him and coming at him completely Free.I am not at all sure that it is fair to say that Palmer has botched 3 or 4 games or whatever. But my Point is, Palmer IS The Bengals QB for now and for the Future....He has been doing alright and will be Getting nothing but Better....A little fan support would help.... bengalsfan33
Why should we take Palmer out and put in Kitna when our team won't be going anywhere this year? Let Palmer get through this...Palmer is going through major growing pains like all rookie QB's usually do. Just give the kid some time to show us what he's got... jditty47
the only thing bad about palmer is that big ben is doing what hes doing. thats it. hes doing nothing out of the ordinary for a rookie qb. get over it. its his first season. Jonboat
No doubt Palmer has made mistakes & made some bonehead decisions but as Oldschooler said it's not all on him. We continue to put the games on his shoulders from a lack of a running game, penalties ect . I mean last year Rudi was running for 160 , this year I think he's only had what maybe 2-3 games over 100 ! I believe we're simply asking him to do to much for a young QB which will lead to more mistakes. Take a look at Ben as others have mentioned they're 1rst. in rushing,1rst in Def. or even Boller who also has a good running game & great Def. Both of them aren't asked to win the game & just execute the offense. I'd bet Ben only throws about 25 times a game & Palmer has probably been avg. almost 40 ( guessing) that's just more opportunities to make mistakes. I believe he's going to be fine & going against these great Def. this year is only going to help in the future we just have to be patient & take our lumps this year, we're not going to the playoffs anyways so why take a step back for next year & hopefully years to come! Hell,we've waited this long, whats 1 more year ! GO BENGALS!!! Jonboat
Bobcat Bengal
Palmer did put together a 2 minute Drive to Win the Miami Game. Why is it that no one seems to remember that ? It is a difference, my friend.Playing with a lead or tie game. It's not the same.
Barbarian
Ugggghhhhhh!!! Not another one of these damned threads!!!!Allow me to repeat myself--the only way kINTna starts is that:1. Palmer is not able to go, due to injury2. Palmer is deadTHAT'S IT!!!!!!! Palmer should start the whole way. You dudes are crazy.
Barbarian
You`re comparing Kitna to T.O and Preist Holmes ???!!!Yeah, sort of how you compared Palmer to Montana??? Now that's high comedy.
The_Next_Big_Thing
Everything I ever said about pulling Carson Palmer I take back. That boy gutted it out and played pretty damned well for a guy who had back spasms and couldn't bend over very well. Especially since his #1 receiver was woozy and didn't exactly know where he was! Bobcat Bengal
I'd love to see that helmet in action....Then again, I'd love to design their uniforms from scratch...

jjakq27
For what it's worth, I didn't hear anyone crying out for Kitna yesterday even late in the game when Chad kick-balled the pass to the Browns. We have a pretty vocal section and the most I heard was "what is he doing?!" Unless Palmer is hurt or it's a big blowout, I don't think we will see Jon Kitna in a game. One of the big offseason questions is whether JK will be back next year or not.

Also, Kitna has to stay, I don't think the team recieves a huge lift in cap space if he goes, and he is great insurance. Plus I don't see any teams giving up a decent enough draft pick to pry him away.
