Dennis Weathersby

From all reports, Dennis came within a hair's-breadth of going to the Great Gridiron in the Sky. And this only a year after he lost about half the blood in his body after a shooting. He had swelling inside his skull after the crash and was in a coma for days. What level of permanant damage was done to his back, neck, skull, brain, we don't know. What another concussion or head or back injury might do...who knows? Just the fact that he's up, talking, walking, working out, and in good spirits is enough for me. If he gets back on the field, and I'd love to see that happen, great. If he just has a long and productive life out of football, that's cool, too. After the last two years, heaven knows the kid deserves a break.

Here's what was printed on the site.

CB Dennis Weathersby says he wants to play football again, but he’s not sure that he can after suffering a traumatic head injury in last April’s car accident. Right now, he’s concentrating on rehabbing his shoulder that underwent surgery before the accident.

“I know it’s rare for an athlete to come back from a head injury like that,” Weathersby said. “But we’re going to see what happens. It takes time. We’ll see what the doctors say.”..

It's funny. Lately, when I've thought about how crappy my life is, or how tough my job has been, I think about this guy. Then I wake up in the morning happy, because I can step out of bed on my own two feet and go about my day as normal.

true dat.

I couldn't have put it any better.

Really puts your life into perspective.

I totally agree.

But ya know, I got a feeling that this kid is going to end up Playing...

I'd like to see Weathersby get another shot at playing, he really has had it tough his whole life yet he's worked hard in school and on the field to be a good person. Its pretty unlikely that he'll be able to regain the athletic ability needed to play in the NFL, but miracles have been known to happen. Len Pasquarelli wrote an article on his recently.
