HoosierCat
Noce;ly put Shula. People are in denial. Actually, william, you're the one in denial. Spend a little time and look at all the preseason predictions for this team in the papers and on sports web sites like espn.com. Virtually everyone expected the Bengals to post no better a record than last year. I still have Sporting News' pro football preview; Pompei put them @ 8-8, and DDN's Ludwig, who did the Bengals write-up, said they were unlikely to get into the postseason. In short, this team is doing about as well as was expected; what hasn't been met are the unrealistic dreams of some fans.
kevnz
JoiseyCat, I think you should add that most of those writers also said this was a team that was built to come together next year. The professionals know it's a rebuilding effort that should be done, not some quick fix for the I want it KNOW generation of idiots. You want it know? Root for the Redskins, cause they "win" the offseason every year, they just sacrifice their long term future. I don't want one winning season at the cost of more losing seasons afterwards. I want long term success, I want to Bengals to be a class team of the NFL for years to come. I want every season to start with the team being a serious threat to go deep into the playoffs and have a shot at winning it all. If that means taking one on the chin this year while one of the youngest teams in the league takes time to develop then so be it. Any person that can't see that should really look at finding either a new team or a new sport.
