Bengals.com Relaunch

That's it? I guess I'm going against the grain here, but my first reaction is, ick. At least the old design had the virtue of simplicity. Now it looks like a page of classified ads -- boxes, banners, logos, oh my! I think I'll be bookmarking the press page instead of the home page. Loads faster, looks better. Just MHO, of course.

With the usual head-on-his-shoulders approach, I'm going to agree with Joisey. It looks like a "Hotjobs.com" approach!!!

However, what do you expect from a Mike Brown paid website??? I'm surprised that he paid Slobson the 5-bucks to redo the damned thing.

I'm voting negative and "what f**king upgrade"???

It sucks.

Its an improvement over their last hideous website but this, relative to other well done websites, is still atrocious.

It reminds me of intern-done radio websites like http://www.wtvn.com or http://www.1460thefan.com (which actually just upgraded themselves and looks better, but still very amatuer.

I like center cells (the one in the middle with the actual content) to be set at a fixed width and let one on the right, be a percentage of the rest of the screen.

It fills a screen more and helps ease the clostrophobic feeling.

What improvements are you guys looking for? It has everything most of us need.. at least I thought it did.

Content is fine, though there isn't anything there now that wasn't there before. But from a graphics perspective, the opening page is what designers I know would generously call "busy." They simply tried to do too much on the opening page, and the result is a mish-mash of boxes, banners, logos, graphic elements, colors, fonts, and typestyles. Smith and others are dead-on with terming it amateurish; it looks like exactly what a first-timer would produce. "Hey, look at this! That's neat! And we can do this and this and this and this..." etc., until you get every bell and whistle in play on one page.

The jump pages, on the other hand, are very well done. Simple, clean, and easy-to-read.

The site looks better. Now for website design 101. The designer needs a little more practice in saving out graphics. They are using a program called Macromedia fireworks to do a lot of the effects. The "B" logo has a bevel around the edge that makes it look horrible as well as the "official website of the Cincinnati Bengals". They should not have used the bevel because the original logo was not designed to work as a beveled object. The rest of the site has a few bugs but mainly these are table issues. I think it will look better once they work them out. But as far as the whole site goes I'm glad they changed the site. The last one was up for 3 years with out any real changes. I reminded me of the way the Bengals did business before Lewis. Keeping the status quo. Never really trying to do any thing new.

The new site is a fresh start. Much like the uniforms and the upgrades to the stadium. I'm finally proud to be a Bengals fan again.

quityourbitchingallofyou. its fine. the video interviews and press conferences are great. the articles are awesome 90% of the time. I know more about the bengals from bengals.com than any other fan of another team knows about their team from their official website. The B looks fine, stfu all of you that are bitchin about the graphics. seriously.

Graphics are important. The B looks like crap, as do 90% of the graphics on the site.

Do I care? Not a bit. I'm there for the articles.
