This isn't a Joisey trick. ^_^

From Bengals.com

Weak-side linebacker Brian Simmons, injured Saturday night in Atlanta, underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Monday in the hopes he can play in 13 days in the regular-season opener.

"That's the hope. That's why we did it today," said Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis.

Lewis also said wide receiver Peter Warrick (knee), tight end Reggie Kelly (thumb) and fullback Jeremi Johnson (groin) are returning to practice Monday and should play in Friday night's pre-season finale at Paul Brown Stadium against the Colts for their first action of 2004. Rookie linebacker Landon Johnson (shoulder) is also going to practice. Rookie free agent Larry Stevens out of Michigan may draw Friday's start in place of Simmons.

Simmons will be fine, they're resting him for the start of the season, and if he doesn't play in that game then someone else will step up. Caleb Miller can play all LB spots, he's everyone's backup.

The Bengals will do fine, Lewis has them on the right track and there are several teams in the NFL that are a lot more banged up than the Bengals. Some of them are on our schedule.

um it says Larry Stevens will start in his place vs the colts.

The injuries piling up are starting to scare me too...all of the major ones like chamberlain, PJ, Abdullah, and Richardson dont bother me but all of our major players are piling up minor injuries. Im praying none of our starts are lost to injury this season cuz i dont think our depth is even close to our starters skill level.

Have faith in Stevens. He played well last week, albiet against the 2nd teamers; but had 6 tackles (not including his special teams hit) and a forced fumble. We may see a good performance from him fighting hard for a roster spot.

We aren't doing any worse, injury wise, than most of the other teams. I'm sure ML will pick up a player or two after the cuts this week....and hopefully there not just cannon fodder....

Difference between the Bengals and teams "expected to win" is we have little depth at most positions. I think we're good at QB, LB, and RB, but the rest is very questionable.

LB is questionable, I agree we're good at QB and RB.

The Bills and Dolphins have both had it worse this preseason. Dolphins lose Ricky Williams and David Boston, then lose a handful of other players who were expected to see plenty of time. The Bills lose JP Losman, then may have lost Travis Brown to a knee injury, Lawyer Milloy broke his arm, and they have a banged up RB and offensive line.

It could be worse, but hopefully these aren't serious issues and we'll see the majority of our starters back.

Positive update from bengals.com:

Simmons, the dean of the defense, showed up on crutches Tuesday less than 24 hours after arthroscopic knee surgery to repair a small cartilage tear. But he is already working on his quad muscles to prevent them from atrophying and he could be lifting weights in the next day or two.

“It’s not 100 percent, but that’s the goal,” said Simmons of playing in the opener. “I have no reason not to be (optimistic). I haven’t had any pain at all. When I woke up yesterday, I was wondering if he (the doctor) had done anything because it didn’t hurt.”

Isn't this the Levi Jones injury of last season when he had surgery during mid-season and didn't miss a start?

theres 2 sides to every coin. He could be like Levi, or he could be like Warrick. Lets pray its like Levi and we dont have to hear about it ever again. I pray warrick is ok, but im guessing we are gonna hear about it, even if he plays every week...every single week.
