Bobcat Bengal Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Do you guys notice how well he plays when he's at home (obviously I suppose) versus when he's on the road? I know I don't have a lot of evidence to draw upon, but I'll refer to last year's pre-season, when he played at New York (I'm pretty sure we all know what went down there) versus him playing Detroit at home, where he didn't have one incomplete pass, 2 TD's and the breadbasket over-the-shoulder throw to TJ in the end zone.Thoughts? Bobcat Bengal Posted August 23, 2004 Author Report Posted August 23, 2004 Yeah, I know.... But, like I said, its not much to go on, considering that he's never played an NFL regular season game....But, for the data on the Jets game, he threw two consecutive INT's that were returned for TD's.....that game wasn't his bestbut it was a complete 180 when he got on the field for that Detroit game Quote
kevnz Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Oh come on now...You've got to be digging for something to talk about...what do the Jets game and the Bucs game have in common? First games of the preseason. Hadn't taken snaps in ages....Plus he had a good game at Tampa, TJ didn't and that's where the pick came from. Plus, last years Jet's game was his first at NFL speed in horible weather....not to mention he bounced back from those picks to score two TD's himself. So no, there is no problem with Carson being home or away. Quote
cincykent Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 We need to see a season from him before we can start making judgments. I have liked what I have seen so far. Quote
Barbarian Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Need more data! VERY TRUE!!!No doubt we've all seen that the kid's got a bazooka for a throwing arm. However, the data is still incomplete.Michael Vick's also got a WOMD for an arm too--however, it's about as accurate as a SCUD Missile.Hopefully, he's a 3 TD QB every week. However, this season is still going to be rough for him. I believe that he's going to struggle every now and then. Quote
chrishcovga Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Said it before, say it again, Carson Palmer plays like the game isn't too big or too fast for him. " He looks the part " - Marvin Lewis. * Thing I noticed last year, is how well he was at playing down to down. I'm seeing the same thing this year only with more command of the offense. Play action, audibling, Once he has full grasp of the offense the way Kitna had last year, we should have our first Bengal Quarterback to throw for more than 30 touchdowns a season ! Quote
Bobcat Bengal Posted August 29, 2004 Author Report Posted August 29, 2004 Yeah, after seeing that spectacle against the Falcons, maybe I have some validity to my argument....He plays totally different away from PBS, but when he's at PBS, he's lights out... Quote
jditty47 Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 as time goes on he'll gain more confidence and that wont be the case....but at the beginning of his career its gonna be 10x harder on the road. Quote
WHO DEY AGAIN? Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 Bottom line is that he is the best QB we've had here in a long time. Once he gets more game snaps he'll adjust and become more comfortable. I think he could be the best Bengals QB ever.Home or road does not matter yet. If they go 8-8 with 8 home wins then it might be a concern. He has all the tools just give him some time. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 I don't think it's Carson as much as the whole team plays better at PBS than on the road. This problem stems back many years, so it's not just limited to Palmer. Quote
jditty47 Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 ya but we were talking about palmer Quote
