HoosierCat
Huge challenge for the Bengals: $10 million more? FO will be working overtime to figure out how they are broke again! My guess, they'll say that money has to be pushed down the road for WJ3's second deal!

Don't forget the immense money it will take to do Dennard's 5th year option. That , and Whit's new 4 year deal. Also, I hear Leon Hall is looking to come back, so the money is as good as spent.

kingwilly
Since it was noted elsewhere we have some dead wood and undeveloped draft picks (busts) who all need to go, it seems unreasonable to expect they can reload only through the draft. Keep: DT: Atkins, Billings, Hardison, Williams DE: Dunlap, Clarke, MJ (?) Dump: Peko, Hunt, Thompson, Sims, Gilberry With that, it would seem smart to target at least one DT and one DE in FA. Dontari Poe will be a FA. He's a big name and would look quite good next to Atkins. Another option could be Kawann Short but both will be legit money. At DE, Mario Addison in Carolina has had a quietly effective career and might look good in stripes. He won't break the bank but probably be more than an MJ. Another decent FA option would be Andre Branch from Miami. While not the flashiest names they are pros and would improve the rotation far more than a Clarke or Hunt. Plus, the addition of a DT and DE in the draft can act as the filter for guys like Clarke and MJ, should they like the young guys better. This team has aged and not improved in any notable way along the D-line. Time to step it up and win in the trenches. JMHO
HoosierCat
CRAP now it looks like upwards of $15 million more! How will they paper this gap over? $90 million deal for McCarron maybe so we have the highest paid backup in the league?
