The Brew Man
Bengals have already changed thier travel scheduleAPALACHICOLA, Fla. — A disorganized Tropical Storm Bonnie (search) blustered ashore near the central Florida Panhandle on Thursday afternoon, bringing with it lighter-than-expected wind and rain.Meanwhile, some 380,000 Tampa Bay area residents were told to evacuate from coastal or low-lying areas because of Bonnie's stronger brother, Hurricane Charley (search). It was the largest such evacuation in the history of Pinellas County (search), which includes St. Petersburg. The Bengals have adjusted the team’s practice and travel schedule, due to the threat of storms which could affect arrival in Tampa for Saturday night’s preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team will depart for Orlando, Fla. tonight from Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The originally scheduled Friday afternoon departure to Tampa was deemed inadvisable due to a significant possibility of severe storms in Tampa on Friday evening. The team’s arrival in Tampa, on either Friday or Saturday, will be dependent on weather conditions in the area. kevnz
Great, that's just what we need...to lose a whole preseason game...Cause they won't make it up. and Carson and the O need all the snaps they can get....and our D could use some snaps against a piss poor o-line and a team that can't rush very well. williamnminor
First, the NFL should only have 2 preseason games to cut back on inuries and time, etc. It would be fair if everyone had just 2. In reference to the game on Sat., it would be a blessing in disguise if it was canceled. The conditions will be awful and people are bound to get hurt when the field is like that. Plus, what good will it do for Palmer to start his season in pouring down conditions. Remember tyhe Jets game last preseason.
kevnz
I hate the idea of 2 preseason games, and most coachs do too....What's the difference between losing a player in a preseaon game or the first game of the year???? None. How do you evaluate who to keep as backups? Game time...come on, it's not like the starters play a 4 whole games....I blame this game situation on the NFL...Who scedules a game in Florida during hurricane season??? WTF? If the field is bad it should be cancelled.

ShulaSteakhouse
The hurricane "threat" should be gone by tomorrow night at the latest. Of course at this point they just can't predict which way it'll turn until it's moved on.If we're lucky it'll move through tomorrow AM and not be as bad as it could be. If the field is bad it should be cancelled. LOLThere has to be 2 preseason games in tampa, jax, and miami. Also, there has to be 8 home games for each team during the regular season. Hurricane season goes into October. Oh did i mention there hasnt been a hurricane directly hit Tampa bay in something like 50 years? You are majorly overreacting. All of you are. I live in tampa bay. The storm will be long gone by sautrday morning, and way out of here by saturday night. The bengals are in orlando, after the storm they will ride over to tampa, prepare, and the game will go on as planned. Your making this into more then it is. The Brew Man
I dont expect the hurricane to still be around come Saturday, but I dont want Carson and CJ skating around on a soaked field either! Preseason injuries are the worst.....

Do you know if the stadium has a pumping/drainage system to get the water off of the field?

jjakq27
Bengals-Bucs Game Postponed 8-13-04, 7:15 a.m. Updated: 8-13-04, 12:55 p.m. BY GEOFF HOBSON ORLANDO, Fla. - The Bengals’ preseason opener for Saturday night against the Buccaneers has been postponed as Hurricane Charley’s 100 miles-per-hour-plus wind set its sights on Florida’s Tampa Bay region. The Tampa Sports Authority made the announcement and said the game won't be played Saturday or Sunday. There will be another announcement Saturday, which may pertain to the game being played Monday. Bengals business manager Bill Connelly said there are a variety of options that are impacted by the severity of the storm. Connelly said Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis is looking into the possibility of practicing with the Buccaneers sometime over the weekend. The Bucs training camp is nearby in Orlando. The postponement came early Friday afternoon as city officials braced for the storm to hit later in the day. Forecasts are calling for the storm to be out of the area Saturday morning, but there is a concern for flooding and other damage.
