ArmyBengal
I have zero issues with Votto as a whole and am glad he's on the team. That contract may limit the team in the years to come, but that's another story.I think it's that people (including myself at times) just simply expect to see those big numbers from Votto. When he doesn't give you that, the thought seems to turn to, "what's wrong with Votto"?Nice article though. We ARE seeing big #s from Votto...they just aren't the #s that tend to make the news.
ArmyBengal
Agree. Most people would simply assume that Votto would be leading the team in HR's and RBI and he's not. It's that perspective that leads people to believe he's having an off year.Honestly, i've been one of those people at times this season.Seriously though, hitting aside, he appears to be one of the slowest guys on the team. Stripes
It's mostly a matter of the "normal" baseball statistics being essentially crap. RBIs mean jack, and Votto is the best proof we've had yet.
ArmyBengal
Sort of like wins and losses for a pitcher.Go out and pitch 7 solid innings, only giving up 1 run and your team loses 1-0 because they can't get a clutch hit.
