HoosierCat Posted April 4, 2013 Report Posted April 4, 2013 Cancer took his jaw in 2006. It finally got the rest of him today./>http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/17320958-418/roger-ebert-dies-at-70-after-battle-with-cancer.htmlI was a huge fan of Siskel & Ebert growing up. Before the innertubes they were the go-to reviewers for movies -- and probably all you got except for your local rag.Godspeed, Rog. Quote
redsbengalsbucks Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 I relied on Ebert to consistently get the reviews totally ass-backwards. If he hated it, I would probably like it. If he loved it, I was going to hate it. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 I wouldn't wish the way his life ended on anyone. It was sad to see how his cancer drastically changed, and then took, his life.I never cared about his reviews either, but then again, I never listen to what someone else thinks about a movie. There are just too many different likes and tastes to assume one person always knows what I might think is good or bad in that regard.I can't even begin to name the movies I have enjoyed through the years that critics hated. On the flip side, there have been numerous movies that got critical acclaim, that I thought were complete wastes of money. The Piano ??
