Draft Prospect Meetings

Walter is keeping a list of reported meetings teams have had with draft prospects. So far he has two for Cincy:

Garrett Gilkey, OL, Chadron State (SR)

John Simon, LB, Ohio State (SR)

Gilkey projects as a 5-6 rounder. Simon could go as high as the second.

Way early to be reading tea leaves, but the fact that Simon is among the first guys they reportedly contact and Aaron Maybin is their first notable outside FA signing suggests that SLB is a big area of focus this offseason. Not tha that's big news but clearly they want to attack it pretty hard.

Between that and the emergence of Burfict, places for Rey on the squad appear to be diminishing.

Watched Senior bowl. Ziggy Ansah was a beast. I hope they take him at #21. Can never have enough DE's.

Running Back will be ineresting. Johnathon Franklin has some wiggle, but I'm not sure how he'll run between the tackles. The best fit for that looks lie Gillislee from Fla.

Barner, doesn't look worthy in the 1st 3 rnds. Tarod Taylor from Stanford has some receiving skills. There will definitely be guys available in the 2nd.

Ansah would get no complaints from me, but it's just not what I expect to happen.

I still think they get Michael Johnson back and from reports, it appears they want to bring back Geathers as well.

While you can't have enough pass rushing DE's, if MJ comes back I can't see another DE in the first 3 rounds.

Obviously, I could be wrong, but with the other needs, I think that waits in that scenario.

No MJ changes that obviously as well.

I like Gillislee as well, but he's not a between the tackles kind of RB.

He's small and fast as hell. BJGE can fill the between the tackle role for at least another season.

I have said it for a while now, but if Bernard is there at the top of the 2nd, he should be the pick.

Our first rounder is still up for grabs even though I have my favorites for #21.
