Bengals, Perry approaching deal

I sound like a jackass??? No, man--a jackass is being optimistic about the Bungles when they shouldn't be. The only guy that has a head on his shoulders about this situation is Joisey. He stated that:

"It wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't sign until the end of the month."

Thanks for the props...I think. But things may be in better shape than yesterday's bengals.com reports led us to believe. The Post says the reported deal remains quite alive and that Perry is actually in town, awaiting the OK to report to camp, so we'll see what happens.

As for whether or not you're a jacka$$, well, as a certified jacka$$ myself (just ask my wife ) I would say that one of our funny lodge hats with donkey ears is yours for the asking. ;)

Lewis did say he would play quarterback Carson Palmer into the second quarter against the Buccaneers, but not come back in the second half.

Why is Marvin starting Carson in the 2nd quarter? If anything, he should be starting the 1st quarter. That's what starters do--they start the game.

Substitute the word "play" for "starting" and the word"into" for the "in" and it makes more sense.

It looks like Perry will sign today. I just heard on the radio that Perry was going to Georgetown to sign his contract and might be at this afternoon's practice. Here is the info from bengals.com.

"PERRY, BENGALS PROGRESS: Talks between the Bengals and first-rounder Chris Perry have apparently progressed far enough that they may be on the brink of a deal in time for Perry to participate in Tuesday afternoons practice.

The club and Eugene Parker have been trying to finalize what amounts to a five-year, $7 million contract since Sunday.

The sides snagged on language Sunday night, but could be making progress on such side issues as escalators.

Head coach Marvin Lewis doubted he would play Perry in Saturday's pre-season opener in Tampa Bay if he showed Tuesday. "

this caught my eye from the bengals.com story on perry signing:

That’s when he’ll sign what is believed to be a six-year contract that voids to five years with a total value of about $7 million.

Voidable years??? Mikey gave someone voidable years??? Wow. Somebody check me on this, but I think it's the first time the Bengals have been willing to do that.

Good, he signed.. now I hope the rest of the team shunes him and he's not allowed on the first or second team either for two weeks. I hate it when these little rookies at like big ass babies. Thank god we're not in the Phillip Rivers deal.. that would be really irritating if that were the Bengals.

No wonder he signed, he got what he wanted: more money than Jackson! Bengals.com:

It’s believed he'll make slightly more than Rams running back Steven Jackson over the five years even though he was selected two spots later at No. 26, and make much more than Jackson if he hits all of his $3 million in escalators.

Well, at least Mikey's learning. First voidables and multi-tier bonuses, now he's realized that it's better to cave early than late!

Joisey,

This DOES impress me. I can't believe that cheapassed Mikey allowed this to happen. Maybe Katie has taken Mikey's checkbook away from him after all.

The only reason their is hope in Bengaldom IS BECAUSE KATIE IS RUNNING THE SHOW! B)

I've spoken with someone who knows Mikey (sit on boards together) and he says Mikey has openly taken a step back from the operations.

It took Mikey WAY TOO long to realize his ineptitude, but thank your favorite deity that he did. :)
