Sea Ray Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 I can't believe they preferred Herron to Polk.Whatever. Herron isn't a bad pick for the 6th round... it just baffles me that they had him graded higher than Polk. It's not just the Bengals. Every other team in the league has also passed on Polk multiple times, I would suggest to you that the grades were wrong. Clearly there's an issue with Polk -- I have no idea what -- that has removed him from everyone's board.Well, it's the shoulder that has scared everyone off. And it's silly, because Dr. James Andrews cleared him.I remember another player whose injury history scared everyone off. Arian Foster.Polk is a superior RB to Herron. He just is. Whether the scouts are right to be scared off by his injuries remains to be seen... but I'm betting he signs as an undrafted free agent and makes everyone look silly - just like Foster did.I'm out here in Seattle right now and word is that Polk has a degenerative hip condition. Don't blame the Bengals on this one. No one wanted to spend a draft pick on him Quote

It just sounds like a rumor to me, trying to explain the unexplainable.Dr. Andrews wrote a letter saying there was some scarring, but nothing that should keep him from playing football. Teams wanted to see the x-rays... but they weren't available.I can understand why that would scare teams off... but it seems at least a little stubborn to be unwilling to trust the opinion of Dr. Andrews. wpeldios Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 Well, one pick in this draft that I hate. That is nto a bad ration. Bring on camp I am ready for this season to start. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 29, 2012 Author Report Posted April 29, 2012 Has Polk signed anywhere ??I haven't seen... Quote
kingwilly Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 Has Polk signed anywhere ??I haven't seen...signed with Eagles. great pick.To me, Polk was a lot like Lendale White. Not fast enough, limited durability. There has to be a reason he went undrafted. Just not in the press yet. Maybe he is one of the 6 who failed their drug test but were not named? Quote

ShulaSteakhouse Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 Actually Herron could be fun to watch in preseason, as he has a legitimate chance to grab a spot really, a bit too early to be casting him off. Quote

I think he's worth a shot. He should be hungry to clear his name from last year. I like his chances of sticking. Somewhat of a local kid too might motivate him with family relatively close by. Quote
cincy9275 Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 i think boom will make the roster. boom plays like a 230 pound back. the guys runs hard and i have never seen him fall backwards after contact. boom has the little man complex and will do everything in his power to make this team. i really like the kid and not to mention he is a good rb. he was the talk of the buckeyes spring camp when he first showed up there. i will not be surprised if he does the same here when camp begins. then boom should not have to sit any games because he served his suspension last season at osu. redsbengalsbucks Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 I'm as big a buckeye fan as the next guy. Boom always plays hard, but he never seemed to live up the expectations. He might make a solid backup in the NFL, but he is not a given to make the team. Peerman has shown he has the tools to backup the RB's, and I hope that he isnt let go only to make room for a liked Buckeye player with something less to give.If Boom makes the team, I hope he does so by being the best RB for the backup job, not because of where he attended college. He's faster, has shown he can run inside and out, has very god cut=back moves and can catch the ball. I'm an advocate of seeing Peerman get a shot to split carries with BJGE to keep them both from getting too worn down.Bernard Scoot has to show better production in hos 8-12 touches a game, especially if the O=line solidifies the way we all hope. In a way, it comes down to what kind of an offense Gruden wants. RB b committee, with a bunch of versatile guys? Running tow TE sets, where the RB stays in an blocks, spread WR sets with lots of comebacks and digs? The style and personality f the offense will dictate which of the WR's and RB's get kept.I'd personally like to see this team go with a heavier RB and WR focus, and either spread it out or get the RB's the ball in more creative ways to get the mismatches when they can.I'd like to see the Jet package come back, now that they can put more speed outside with Green and Jones, and Sanu in the slot. The safeties will have to make a choice: drop to support the CB over Green and Jones, or come up and worry about BJGE and Peerman leaving the CB's to deal with the likes of Green an Jones on fly/post/and double go routes. If Dalton has just 1 or 2 more seconds for those plays to develop, we could see big plays followed by lots of underneath RB's screens that go for big chunks. Pick you poison. the LB's will have a nightmare dealing with Sanu/Shipley/Hawkins, the S will be pressed to deal with Gresham, Lee or Charles and it will mean mismatches for the RB's and WR's.Gotta love how this roster is shaping up. He has only 6 touches in his NFL career.Herron, despite his lack of top end speed, was a beast at Ohio State. He single-handedly changed the Buckeye offense when he returned from his suspension. I was never a huge fan of his, and thought he was overrated, until I watched the Buckeyes in 2011. He's an NFL RB. He might not be a starter, but he's a strong runner who can catch the ball. I'll be a bit surprised if he doesn't make the team (although I think Bernard Scott is the one who is in trouble, not Peerman). Quote
