HoosierCat
Via Muckraker Mike:Jaguars $35.4 million.Chiefs $27.6 million.Bucs $27.2 million.Broncos $25.4 million.Bills $22.7 million.Seahawks $20.5 million.Cowboys $18.6 million.Bears $18.1 million.Bengals $17.5 million.49ers $17.5 million.Redskins $13.6 million.Browns $12.8 million.Dolphins $10.7 million.Jets $8.6 million.Titans $8.4 million.Patriots $8.3 million.Packers $7.5 million.Cardinals $7.2 million.Ravens $7.1 million.Raiders $6.1 million.Rams $6.0 million.Eagles $5.8 million.Colts $5.4 million.Vikings $4.5 million.Chargers $4.3 million.Saints $4.2 million.Lions $2.9 million.Texans $2.4 million.Falcons $2.3 million.Panthers $2.3 million.Steelers $750,000.Giants $70,000.At this point the "reserve" the Bengals need to retain in case Palmer suddenly shows up is down to about $8.8 million, so they've got about $9 million in disposable space at the moment. Looking at performances so far this year I would say Simpson would be an obvious target on offense except for the whole pot bust thing. On the defensive side I might start to consider new deals for Fanene, Rucker and Howard. Not rushing to offer anything but those are the names that come to mind at the moment. Spor_tees
What stands out the most in the up to date cap space, the Panthers third from the bottom at $2.3 million. Wow! What's worse, an owner that spends tons of money and gets poor results, or someone that spends little money and gets poor results? Isn't Carolina's owner Jerry Richardson? Wasn't he one of the guys that was complaining that the players were making too much money and that the owners need to take a hard stance? Maybe he needs to take a look in the mirror and figure out why he is spending so much money on a crappy team.

FWIW Jerry Richardson has admitted he wanted to fire his entire coaching staff a year earlier, but held off because he didn't want to pay salaries to coaches who were no longer on the team. As a result John Fox and his staff were allowed to twist in the wind last year while the team positioned itself for the 1st overall draft spot. NFL fever. Catch it.
