WHO DEY AGAIN? Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 I'm not saying he's the next Dan Ross but I'd venture to say most of you haven't watched him play or have no clue who he is. It's not a bad signing and the last time I checked Sapp wasn't available. Quote

At least one TE will have to be released.. Quote
HoosierCat Posted July 29, 2004 Author Report Posted July 29, 2004 who dey again:I'm not saying he's the next Dan Ross but I'd venture to say most of you haven't watched him play or have no clue who he is.Yeah, five years ago in college he was a star. Since then, junk. Heaven knows plenty of good college players never do jack in the NFL...and heaven also knows we seem to sign most of them sooner or later. It's not a bad signing and the last time I checked Sapp wasn't available. He was, we had him on the hook, and despite all the big dollar signs being bandied about in Oakland the difference between the first two years of the Raiders' and Bengals' deals -- which is all Sapp will see -- was tiny. But Mikey just rolled over. Wouldn't want to jeopardize our chances of signing a bunch of mimimum wage refugees in July, after all... Quote
BengalNation1281 Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Fast Fact: James Whalen was also the man who directed "Frankenstein" and was the subject of the movie "Gods and Monsters." Other than that, I've never heard of any other James Whalen, so I can't get excited about it. Besides, Schobel, Kelly, and Stewart are all very capable. Especially Schobel. Quote

Sapp's best days are behind him and Oakland saved us some salery cap headaches...I'm sick of paying for guys past glories and that' sjust what the sapp deal was. Sapp isn't even a run stopping DT, he's a pass rusher, and he's fallen way down on that one. Quote
WHO DEY AGAIN? Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 You got that right kevnz. Sapp would have been a waist of money. If Whalen stays healthy he won't be one of two TE's that get cut. Quote
