savagehenry54
......-tight-endsCan Dan Coates continue his cockroach like streak of survival? I doubt it and surely hope not. Also touches on the receivers.....*Admin: merge if you prefer, I went with a new thread cuz it's as much about the TE's as it is the WR's. With Mathis being the guy to shift to right guard I'm going off the interview we did with him on my podcast in which he relayed that he was the most ambidextrous player among the interior guys and would be the one to play the right side if something were to happen to Bobbie, but nothing ever happens to Bobbie so probably don't have to worry about it, LOL....Knock on wood. Stripes
If Dan Coates makes this roster, the tight end position will have again been brutalized by injuries. I don't remember hearing J.P. Foschi's name this offseason and am too lazy to check on his status, but he'd even be a better choice. Neither ought to be on the team ahead of Coffman though. ArmyBengal
If we keep this on topic of the tight ends, I again don't think there is much to discuss.Kelly, Gresham, and CoffmanCoats gets shown the door because he really sucks and if injuries were to happen again, I would prefer them look at Foschi again. He was far better than I had anticipated when he was signed and Coats was far worse than I could have imagined.Anyway, looking forward to seeing what a healthy TE corps with those 3 is capable of. Once Gresham signs and is fullintegrated with the play book, I think he takes over full time with Kelly playing the mentor role. Two TE sets, they have been trying to put on the field for a few seasons now unsuccessfully, will be sick with both Gresham and Coffman.God I hope these guys stay healthy !!! savagehenry54
Besides staying healthy, I think Coffman needs to become a viable blocker as well. Brat tends to telegraph his play calling anyway, so a player that tips Brats hand even more due to being too one dimensional certainly doesn't help imo. One would think that you could split a guy like Coffman into the slot a la Dallas Clark but perhaps Coffman's foot issues cropped up before something like that could be implemented. I'm not sure I've ever seen, in my admittedly rather green Bengaldom, such a strong squad. Not even one position can be considered 'weak'.As for the TEs - just like London buses. You wait ages for a pass-catching TE and suddenly two arrive.
