13, 15, 16, 17, or 83?

Not being an Owens historian, I do not know which numbers he has played in but given those on the roster and the numbers that they've taken, which of the remaining will Owens select?

I suppose he could "get" a number of a rookie, or less senior player.

I think it would be trick if he took 13. A nice, superstitious number...for a true freak.

Last season he wore #81. Why wouldn't he want that number back?

Well AB may wanna keep it since he's wore it most years besides with the buccaneers,Maybe when SImpson gets cut he'll switch to 89 and TO can have 81 otherwise I'd say T.O goes with Ocho Trece or Uno Ocho.

At the moment there is no word if Owens will wear his signature No. 81, which is already held by wide receiver Antonio Bryant. Bryant, obviously would have to want to do it, but someone would also have pick up the tab for the inventory of No. 81 Bryant jerseys in stock at Reebok and the Bengals. That is probably in excess of $10,000…

So who'll wear 81 in Cincinnati?

Lost in the Bengals' acquisition of receiver Terrell Owens is a question that has no relevance to the game itself, but that could have a big impact on the potentially awkward dynamic playing out among the poor man's version of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh.

Who gets to wear 81?

Antonio Bryant currently owns the number, even though he's never actually worn it in a game for the team. Terrell Owens, who has worn the number for his entire NFL career, presumably wants it.

For now, the issue is undecided; multiple sources tell us that the question has yet to come up. But it will, and its resolution could provide the first clue regarding the manner in which T.O. and Bryant will -- or, possibly, won't -- get along in their first season as teammates.

Popcorn? Check.

Other possibilities include 83, 84, 11, 13, 15, 16, and 17. (Owens likely wouldn't take 15, which was worn by the late Chris Henry.) More choices will be available once one or more of the other receivers on the team are given their walking papers.

If Bryant doesn't or won't or isn't forced to give up 81, T.O.'s best bet could be the backward version of it -- 18. Currently, it's the property of Matt Jones, whose chances of making the 53-man roster are likely now below 18 percent or less, in the wake of Owens' arrival.

UPDATE: On further review, No. 11 and No. 84 already have been issued to rookies.

Can't say as I care much. I'm sure this will get fixed very quick though, because there are profits to be made from Jersey sales.

I expect a news blurb about this today I bet...

Wonder if Nfl will produce Batman and Robin Items :P Seems like T.O is alrdy milking it :o,Right after the news broke about him agreeing to terms

From a poster at GoBengals....

AB told Warren Sapp he has no problem giving 81 to TO. Said it will cost him some cash that he will donate to a charity in Miami. Said he's had plenty of numbers and that the number doesnt make the man.

Also told Warren he's ready to go and if they had a game tomorrow he would ready. Had no issues being backed down at mini camp/ota's. Knee's are good to go

Let the jersey sales begin...

T.O. finagles 81 from Antonio Bryant

Bengals receiver Antonio Bryant was assigned No. 81 after he joined the team in March; last year, Bryant wore 89 with the Bucs. The newest member of the team, Terrell Owens, has worn No. 81 for all of his NFL career.

And so the two teammates have worked out a deal that will allow T.O. to continue to wear his signature number.

Warren Sapp of NFL Network reports that an unknown amount of money was paid by Owens to Bryant, with some of the cash going to charity.

Coincidentally, Bryant once wore Owens' No. 81 with the 49ers, the team with which T.O. started his career.
